Someone mentioned Can and the new contract above. I personally think he wants to see what happens in the window. If Keita comes in, he moves further down the pecking order. This may drive him to move on or make it clear he's leaving after the year.

Agree completely - between Hendo's injury potential, Naby possibly coming, he wants to see how much he'll play before signing. I don't doubt that they've verbally agreed to a number though.

Not sure if any of you visit the club website, but they post some pretty cool pictures of the lads training etc. This is them taking a dip in a lake in Germany:

And then here riding bikes:

Enjoy seeing behind the scenes stuff like this

frick it, I'll say it

We're on the verge of having a better roster than Barca

+ Keita, VVD
- Neymar

Who has a better 11?

Messi and Suarez are still great, but they're 30. Barca has an aging lineup. MATS will be one of the two best GK in the world one day, but aside from that it is an aging lineup, the guys in their prime are not world class players aside from Neymar

I agree.. I said something similar on page 8... without Neymar, Suarez and Messi are on the wrong side of 30 and the rest is a munch of meh...

The on again, off again Keita saga may be off again.

Go get Goretzka (entering final year of his contract at Schalke) and/or Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gaffer.

Then pay Keita's 48M release clause next summer.

I'll be ok with this just to ensure McKennie gets more minutes.

Seeing lots of reports that Klopp has said he is done chasing Keita this summer.

I'd go after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic... he's a monster..

Go back for Keita next summer.. cheaper + UCL experience...

I remember reading about us either making a bid or enquiring about him and Lazio slapping a £60m price tag on him

There were reports of a bid in June ~£25mm.. no one confirmed it...

I have seen that price tag, but that may be all talk... Lazio is not a rich club and £40-50 is a lot to turn down...

He's actually everything I hope Grujic can become... he has the tools... Serbian, big, strong and technically gifted who can do it when it matters..

Leave the door open for Keita to replace Coutinho next summer...

That said, Goretzka would be a good option too... much cheaper, as well..

Zielinski, Ox, Rafinha... if we are looking for depth...

He'd probably never come here... but I'd love to see what Klopp could do with Barkley..

I was thinking this even before the Keita saga ended... Fits the Klopp mold too, relatively young with some promise

This is one small motivation by Klopp to keep Coutinho focused on staying, I would think.

Watched the game. A few thoughts:

It's early but Solanke looks like he could overtake origi in the pecking order. Looking like a natural and fitting well with the team. Could be Klopp's Lewandoski-Esque project.

Andy Robertson showed within 5 minutes of being on the pitch what we've missed with downhill left footed crosses from that wing. A little suspect defensively but not near as bad as Moreno. He'll play a lot.

Salah looks like he might be our top scorer this year, especially if Cou is pulling the strings. They've already seemingly made a strong connection

Coutinho Ultimate Highlights

Yea, it would be great if we had a little more options, but our starting front 6 with Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Lallana, and Henderson should be deadly.

And in bad news, Clyne doesn't look like he'll be ready for week one. I am excited to see what TAA can do because he has a ton of potential, especially going forward, but he definitely doesn't have Clyne's consistency when it comes to defending.

Several reports are starting to say that if Coutinho goes to Barca, Pulisic is the earmarked replacement.

Would be the full epitome of bittersweet.
