Some Spanish journalists are saying that the founding members expected this kind of response and are ‘calm’.

this is what really worries me. its not like these assholes didnt know what the responses from the leagues and FIFA were gonna be, and have stepped on the gas big time regardless.

Premier League

They aren't going to actually kick out their top 6 teams...

UEFA and the leagues are just pissed the top teams found a way to make money without having to give them a cut of it.

Lol “premiere” league without the top 6 teams In the country. They are at the mercy of the big 6 and they know it. Nobody is gonna watch south Hampton vs Burnley every week.

The only question now is how badly UEFA and the domestic leagues play this. If they really try to ban the top teams then you will get a real Super League with a 60 game schedule.

I watch MLS soccer.

A World Cup with the equivalent of mid-table Premiership talent would still be awesome.

It may help our chances of winning one, and I would celebrate it all the same.

No but they would have to give them permission to play in the super league

Which they obviously won’t do

Leaving the only course of action that those six clubs leave the English football pyramid system

The Premier League condemns any proposal that attacks the principles of open competition and sporting merit which are at the heart of the domestic and European football pyramid. Fans of any club in England and across Europe can currently dream that their team may climb to the top and play against the best. We believe that the concept of a European Super League would destroy this dream. The Premier League is proud to run a competitive and compelling football competition that has made it the most widely watched league in the world. Our success has enabled us to make an unrivalled financial contribution to the domestic football pyramid.

A European Super League will undermine the appeal of the whole game, and have a deeply damaging impact on the immediate and future prospects of the Premier League and its member clubs, and all those in football who rely on our funding and solidarity to prosper. We will work with fans, The FA, EFL, PFA and LMA, as well as other stakeholders, at home and abroad, to defend the integrity and future prospects of English football in the best interests of the game.

There isn’t loyalty to the pyramid by the owners.

With the cost of players, it’s difficult to drive a ROI on owning a team. This Super League basically drives towards ensuring financial returns and to hell with tradition.

The premier league may bluff this, but if their 6 money makers all say they are playing in the Super League, the premier league will fall in line and let it happen.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Europeans have yet to let their balls be chopped off by monopolies like Americans have.

It’s not just to hell with tradition. It’s to hell with competition.

These owners are scared of true competition. They want a US setup where they can just field a dog shite program like the Browns, the Hawks or Vanderbilt, sit back and watch the checks roll in for their shite product.

It’s also ridiculously dumb that the Spurs are included in the SuperLeague while a club like Ajax gets excluded.

You mean like FIFA, UEFA, Etc... This is the first time they are facing any sort of a outside competition and their response is to ban the competition...
