Eh, we could do worse. This is one of those that makes more sense when Michael Bradley is your best player, not when you have Pulisic and co. coming through.

Playing organized defense will take any national team squad a long way though.

Hiring Big Sam to coach the national team would make the Yaw Yaw hire seem like the second coming of Nick Saban, by comparison. Sunil Gulati had better not pull the trigger and frick this up.

Apparently, Laurent Blanc is being considered. I'd rather us just roll with Tab Ramos as interim coach until lots of options become available after the World Cup. There is absolutely no reason to make a hasty hire right now, and I will be pissed if we hire any new coach before the next USSF presidential election in February.

Oh sure ... we could hire the King, Alan Pardew or maybe David Moyes is tired of his success at Sunderland.

I mean, we hired Jurgen who is good at...talking to German dudes with American dads?

At least Allardyce can set up an organized defense, which is something we have struggled with.

Don't think he's the right hire but I also won't be shocked if we hire a "worse" manager.

surely we as soccer fans aren't going to allow gulati to be the one to hire the next manager right? is there anything we can do to show the committee we aren't fricking around, and they better not allow gulati to seek another term? i thought for sure by now we would have received a press release from gulati saying he isn't seeking another term. it terrifies me that we haven't. this frick is hoping to just wait out the outrage isn't he?!?! goddamnit!

I still think Allardyce would've done a good job with England.

It seems like i'm in the minority, but I would like him.
(Depending on who the other potential candidates are, obviously)

Depends on the election IMO. Tab will be the guy until then (February I think?) and they'll proceed from there.

Big Sam is fine for what he is. You know exactly what you're gonna get. I would have been fine with him taking over at the time we appointed Bruce in 2016. He might have gotten us qualified for Russia, who knows?

But I'm not sure I want him overseeing our 4-5 year rebuilding process. We need to take our time and make the right hire. And under no circumstances should Gulati be the one making that decision.

Big Sam would've gotten the #USMNT thru the Hex

This is true, probably, & would have made him adequate hire in Oct. 2015. He also doesn't play kids, ever, which makes him awful in Nov 17

I love me some Big Sam, but we kind of need a shot of energy, some one who will develop the younger talent.

Is the national team job that undesirable that we are garnering interest from the a coach of a few shitty premier league teams?
