The ignorance is strong with this one.

I still think Allardyce would've done a good job with England.

They looked ok under him in that brief stint

He would get the job done with our national team, but you have to look past the style of play.

He gets results with sub par talent.

So would Alexi Lalas love him or hate him?

You're right, guiding a few teams from getting relegated makes you worthy of a national team job. He still would be better than Arena imo. I would hope we could find better candidates.

Also I'm shocked this is the thread we got when there is a Laurent Blanc rumor floating around.

Big Sam would be fine USMNT team coach. We need to be realistic with our talent. We don't have the technical skills to play beautiful free flowing soccer. And a national coach can't develop that.

That has to happen at club level, at development level. Big Sam can set us up very well for what we're good at, defense, hustle, set pieces, counters with our few good stacking players.

The man would get results, which after this last hex is all I care about. Until we have an in their prime 11 that can play nice technical soccer.

We just lost to fricking T and T with the WC on the line. We got whipped by Costa Rica twice. We kept 3 clean sheets in the Hex. We've hired Bruce fricking Arena twice. We currently have five players, in our entire pool, /Pulisic/Brooks/Wood/Yedlin/Johnson, who seem even relatively assured of consistent playing time in a Big 5 European league for the upcoming qualifying cycle. Why the frick do people think we're in a position to shite on Big Sam, or any sort of organizationally sound results oriented coach?

Allardyce isn't a bad coach. He's never been relegated to my recall, and his teams are super organized. We need organization most of all. He isn't my preferred choice, nor is there any reason to give the job to someone right now.

Sam would be awesome for us. He had fricking Sunderland 5th or 6th in form for calendar year 2015. He plays pragmatic football and is extremely well organized. People bitch about "attractive football" with him,but he again he had fricking Sunderland as one of the higher scoring teams in the league. Scoring goals and winning matches is attractive as hell to me right about now as a fan of usmnt. The guy also has an eye for talent and is a meticulous scout... we wouldn't have any head scratching roster moves. We could do a metric frickton worse.

I just don't see Blanc taking it. He can get much bigger jobs that would have him instantly competing at the club level.

I think the backlash is mostly due to Sam being somewhat of a meme at this point. There's no doubt he's a solid manager though.

Sam is intriguing. He wouldn't be one of my top choices but I would like to see what he could do.
