Looks like this is just a rumor. Jozy started and went the full 90 in a 3-0 win vs Newcastle. I

Again Poyet is coming out and saying he supports Jozy and that he's been playing well.

“Jozy had a magnificent game at the weekend,” Poyet told Mirror Football. “I was so sad that he didn’t score that chance. They practically gave it to him! But I said to him in the dressing room, ‘Now you know how important you are, and you can feel it.’ If we keep winning, his goal is going to come. But his performance was one of the biggest and most important points for us.”

He played really well but just shite the bed on his one clear chance. His timing and positioning was great all game. Even his miss was a nice play by him to shield the defender. It looks like Poyet favors him over Fletcher so he should get plenty of chances.

This is a good interview with Jozy where he admits that he needs to think less and just play.

The comments from the fans are positive. Sunderland fans like him (well, most do) and are willing to give him a chance, contrary to what TNdouche will have you believe.

The United States international was dominant at the weekend, bullying the Magpies' defence and conjuring a series of superb lay-offs, including a neat flick that helped create the Adam Johnson goal which made it 2-0.

The goals will come, folks.

Anyone else watch the game? He really did play well, with the exception of the 1v1 he botched.

And that backheel pass to set up that Johnson goal? Instaboner.

He did play really well, but I don't think he'll be afforded the patience at Sunderland that he needs. He's going to have good games and he's going to have bad games, and bad games will somehow remain in the memory while the good games will exist as outliers. I wish he went to a team in a league where he could develop.

Which would be where? Italy? Stay in Holland? Spain wasn't so great to him last time either.

I have no clue. I'm just skeptical of England apart from some specific clubs. The style of play this season has been absolutely horrible, save for a couple of teams.

Holland seems too easy, although if he could go to PSV or Ajax and play in Europe that would be great. I'd like for him to go to a club where there is no danger of relegation, a club that plays good football, and where he can get consistent game time.

When he gets hot, he usually gets really hot. At least he's playing well enough, when not scoring much right now, for Poyet to point out how well he's been playing. He might be just blowing smoke so Jozy doesn't get down on himself. But either way, he's right. He has been playing well. And hopefully he gets hot and can carry it into this summer.

Barring something unforeseen, he will play every minute in Brazil. And I just can't see us getting out of the group and making some noise in the knockout rounds without him scoring goals and contributing with the rest of his game that looks to have developed pretty well. I'm a bit of a Jozy apologist, admittedly. But I think what I'm saying is right.

So Adam Johnson had some really nice words to say about Jozy.

quote:

“There is a lot more to him than goals. Against Newcastle he must have been a nightmare to play against. Genuinely, I thought he was awesome”

“If you play like that as a striker but you don’t score goals, to be honest it doesn’t really matter, because the amount of chances he created for us, his team-mates and his work-rate, tells its own story.

“He pushed and pulled the Newcastle centre-halves all over the place and showed power, strength and pace. He was unplayable at times and his performance was outstanding.

“I said to him ‘If you keep playing like that, getting into great positions and playing well then the goals will come.’ It is when you are not playing well that the goals never happen and you won’t score.”

Jozy scored his only goal for Hull against City. I think he's getting a goal today.
