Poyet likes Jozy and Jozy likes Poyet. Not that it needs to be said, but TnBhoy is wrong again.

Y'all need to stop reading the Mail.

quote:

Early Friday morning, The Mail made a live blog update claiming the US star was no longer in the plans of Black Cats boss Gus Poyet, with a quick update adding that Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven were ready to snap him up. However, Altidore's agent poured ice cold water on such suggestions. "There is no truth to it," Altidore rep Lyle Yorks told MLSsoccer.com on Friday afternoon, mere hours before the window closes in England. "Jozy is happy at Sunderland and is very happy with Gus as a manager. He is looking forward to tomorrow's derby with Newcastle."

quote:

Poyet recently told local reporters that he intends to get Altidore scoring and the arrival of Scocco gives him a potential partner for the two-man area game that the American thrived from with previous employers AZ Alkmaar.

SSN is the one that said

What you posted is a walk-back due to nobody wanting him. DWI. The Sunderland experiment is a failure.

It really is amazing how stupid you are.

You are just so angry and hate Jozy for whatever reason.

Jozy could score 20 goals this season and TN would still call him shite. It's weird the animosity he has for young Josmer.

You won't get any realism from cwill about Jozy. He has been AWFUL for sunderland, regardless of his service.

It was a massive fail and a poor decision for him to come back to the premier league. He doesn't have the quality.

That being said, Jozy is my guy and I'll root for him all day long during the World Cup and anytime he plays football.

edit: this is not a flame, i just think you are sometimes unrealistic about jozy's current skill level.

What realism are you not getting from me?

He's not a terrible player. He's not a great player. His form this year is not as good as his form last year.

He's also not as bad as some people, especially TN, make him out to be.

I'm willing to give him more time than all the reactionaries who act as if he's the worst player they've ever seen don a soccer jersey.

ETA: You're right, apparently having more assists than anyone else on the team is part of his being "AWFUL."

You still didn't answer my question though. If you're going to criticize at least throw some evidence in.

As for Jozy, I think hindsight is 20/20. He had a stellar year in Holland and turned it into a move to a bigger league. I don't think anyone thought Sunderland would be as bad as they've been, and I'll be honest that I, too, have been disappointed in some of Jozy's play. That said, I try to watch all of the Sunderland matches and I think he has improved his holdup play and is constantly giving big CBs fits. Against Stoke he was dominating Huth and Shawcross and got 3 yellows drawn against him due to his speed, technique, and movement into space. Two of those came against N'Zonzi, who got sent off. Also, after Jozy was taken off for Fletcher, suddenly Sunderland had no threat going forward and were on the backfoot for the rest of the game, despite having a man advantage.

Could Jozy do better? Of course. Strikers need to score. But the times when Jozy has the ball at his feet and can run at defenders are rarely existent, and even when Sunderland is on the break and he moves into the box the cross either gets shanked or Adam Johnson decides to go it alone. It's comical at times, and extremely frustrating to watch as a fan. His hold up play and one touch passing are pretty good, but he definitely needs to work on his movement. That said, again, I want to punch my screen every time I see him splitting the defenders and Cattermole pulls the ball back and passes it to John O'Shea. But he's gone now, so hopefully the attack benefits.

As Crazy keeps pointing out, strikers of Jozy's mold are late to develop. Didier Drogba didn't blow up until he was 25/26, or two years from where Jozy is now. Yeah, Drogba, one of the best strikers to play the game in the modern era. At this age Drogba was still playing in League 2 in France. He wasn't scoring as much as Jozy did in Holland, either, and he was in a weaker league for sure.

Give the guy some time. I have faith in him. I just get tired of reactionaries acting like he's the worst player to ever don a jersey, and jumping on every opportunity to remind us all how "AWFUL" he is. He's not awful. He's an ok striker playing for a shite team, but I think he has the potential to be a very, very good striker.

League that plays defense= exposed Jozy

Vs Rubbish concacaaf teams= Quality striker, smoke and mirrors

Jozy starting today vs Newcastle. I guess he's not completely out of Poyet's plan.

Im a huge Jozy fan but ive been against the move to sunderland since day one. He would be much better at a club with a more open style of play in the EPL. Well that was the case with the bat shite crazy racist/fascist coaching but Poyet is a much better manager.

The only people who even called out the dumpster fire in the north east was me an Bhoy saying Jozy should not going there.

With that said time for him to score today vs the magpies and piss off our resident annoying Newcastle fan.

The "MLS might be better than the Special Olympics" signal has gone off, I see.
