Pick Sunderland

Jk, definitely don't pick Sunderland. That would be a fricking horrible decision.

I'd suggest recording the 2 match of the day episodes each week on NBCS and watch that for a while before picking a team. The show comes on Saturday and Sunday nights and is essentially a much longer highlight show. Instead of showing 30 seconds of the game, they show 10 minutes or so and let you get a feel for the game. Match of the DAy is kind of a confusing title because it actually shows all of the games instead of what is deemed the best of the day. This will help you get a feel of all of the teams.

This. And Premier League Review Show is also a good way to see every team each week

I mean, if these are the two a-hole teams you want to choose from, be my guest. If you don't want a frontrunner team then definitely go Spuds, because I assure you they will never be a frontrunner.

With Chelsea you always have a chance and you get to root for a bunch of model professionals and have the greatest manager in the game.

Randy's trolling never ceases to make me laugh

Here is a quick look at their captain (leader, legend ). He is a class act.
John Terry's On and Off Field Controversies

Number 1 is about how he made fun of Americans at Heathrow airport on 9/11 and made plane crash noises at them. Pretty classy! He also slept with his teammate's baby mama and lost the English captaincy because of it (I've heard doing that is bad for team chemistry) and generally doesn't like black people, which is par for the course for Chelsea, whose fans didn't let a black guy onto a train. But he is still worshiped by that fan base. So if you want to be part of that group go ahead

Easy choice, go with Spurs. We have a fantastic new manager and a young, exciting squad that plays attractive football. We also have the best striker and goalkeeper in the league.
Plus, we stand for all that is right in the game of football unlike the Chelsea scum.

There are really only 5 (and maybe a random 6th team on any given year) teams capable of finishing in the top 4 right now which is what the entire EPL season is about. Rooting for any of these teams could be perceived as front-running, but it's really the only way you're going to have your team play in the Champions League.

On the other end of the spectrum, you can root for a bottom half of the table team and cheer when you upset a big boy and/or breathe a sigh of relief when your team avoids relegation with 1 week to go.

Now if you're a true masochist at heart, you could choose to root for a middle table club. This means you will bitch and moan because the owner prefers to make a profit instead of pumping money into the club to get over the hump and qualify for Europe. Every offseason you will also be able to enjoy watching your homegrown talent move to a top 5 club. There's no joy to be found in rooting for one of these teams. You don't even get the elation by avoiding relegation like the bottom half of the table teams. There's nothing for you but mediocrity and misery.

If you pick Aston Villa, you can be proud just to stay in premier league every year. 17th and PROUD!

This is a bit strong

We really aren't that bad, especially if you enjoy over spending for everything and only winning like one thing every two years.

I think you're forgetting who won the golden boot last year champ while missing a decent amount of time with injury.

Aguero: 26 goals in 31 games

Kane: 21 goals in 34 games

This has to be a weird statement for any non soccer fan to understand. Imagine saying that about pretty much any American sport. "Yeah, the Yankees over-spend on everything and only win the World Series once every couple of years or so." Well, yeah, sign me up. I get what you are saying since they aren't competing well in Europe, but I just thought I'd go on a tangent for no reason.

Gross oversimplification.

And it's going to be hilarious when England loses their fourth place.

Yankees

This really isn't a bad comparison, except the Yankees have won shite in five years.

City overpays because everyone knows they can afford to, just like NY. City also typically has a habit to buy players in their older years, also just like the Yankees, other than this window we're in right now.

City are a fun team to watch and can win a match against any team in the BPL, other than Chelsea, on any given day 6-0, but can also lose to any team like Stoke 1-0 on any weekend.

Like everyone else has said, just watch some games and you'll find a team. I'm a City fan because my high school's colors were sky blue and when I saw City on Fifa 06 I just liked their colors and it clicked. Been a City fan ever since. You'll randomly come to appreciate one team more than the others.

Spurs=Cubs

Way more fans than success but you still get to hear about them as if they're Top 4.

While it's certainly an oversimplification, the difference between 4 or 5 and 1 or 2 is massive in terms of measuring season success.
