The price tag is fine and they will only be going up in the future. The only big money splash would have been Gotze and that's not happening. With the amount of players we are selling we will not be spending a lot of money. I like the business so far, when Eoro is over and July 1 hits we will start seeing some action. I would imagine a Mid, CB and most definitely LB.

We've got attacking options aplenty now, with Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Mane, Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Ojo and Markovich (that is ALOT of depth for no European football). I believe Ibe and Benteke will be sold/loaned.

Need to shore up the midfield and defense. Can, Milner, and Hendo need some backup, are we assuming Grujic is going to step right in?

Sakho, Lovren, Gomez and Matip need cover, as Skaho could be out and Gomez returning from injury.

Clyne is a rock for us, but we need viable competition for Moreno and Flanagan, and someone who can cover both sides.

I agree... CM, CB and a LB...

De Sciglio from Milan is intriguing (recently linked)... A few years ago all the talk in Milan was that he was the second coming of Maldini.. Injuries have hurt him the past few seasons..

Though he is naturally right footed, he has played a good bit on the left... He could be competition on the left and cover fr the right... Or maybe just stay away given has injury history..

Should be our permanent future at LB. The kid just had IT last season before his injury. I would take him over Moreno a million times over. I love Moreno, but he is like the token white guy that tries to hang with the AA crowd.

My only two wishes for this window is a big name CB, and a midfielder who can be physically dominant and pass effectively. I like Can at DM for the foreseeable future, but Milner won't last forever and Hendo (as much as I love the guy) struggles with passing.

Did y'all really buy Mane for what Arsenal paid for Sanchez?

He's a fill in LB. If he's our best option, we're in trouble. Provides almost nothing going forward, has no left foot, no real dribble threat, etc.

He was good for a three game stretch to begin the season because he's strong defensively and played pretty well defending space. But he provided nothing going forward, and was in fact a liability that didn't even attempt passes to guys that were running into open space. His "assist" was just a normal pass that Cou turned into a wonder goal.

Pretty sure his liabilities were exploited (the ManU game?) and he didn't feature there near as often afterwards.

He's gifted and can fill in at LB, but he's not a LB and is definitely not one under Klopp, who wants his Fbs to be able to attack.

I still don't like Mane's price, but I'm coming around to him being a good option. Mainly based upon reading about his time at Salzberg - basically, they pressed the hell out of teams. Very compact offensive formation who focused on winning the ball back immediately (their being compact offensively meant that when the ball turned over, they were able to attack the compact space the other team had to be in to cover them as a defense, and thus made it easier to win the ball back immediately again).

He may be just what Klopp needs to unleash his system.

Sanchez scored 13 goals and assisted 4 last season, while Mane scored 11 goals and assisted 6.

I'd obviously prefer Sanchez over Mane, as he is a known commodity and has played for a big club before, but if Klopp wants him, I'm ok with doing what it took to get him here. Apparently the committee identified him as a target when he was at Salzburg and Rodgers shot them down.

I just ran through Liverpool and Arsenal's transfer history to mock you back...god damn we've wasted some money and yall have spent well...

I'll leave you with Coutinho and Firmino cost us 37M pounds and Ozil + Sanchez cost you 75M pounds? Zing?

Better comparison would be Suarez and Sterling considering the return we got out of both of them.

Buying a player, within the EPL, whose club didn't want to sell him, is always going to be more than buying a player outside the league whose club wants to offload him...

Not saying it's better business, but it is what it is..

Plus, the money in the league is different than even just 2 years ago.. £30mm is a lot, but now it's up to him to prove he's worth it and Klopp to get it out of him...

Who started the 13/14 thread? We desperately need that person to begin it all again. That's who has my vote.

I'm new blood, if that's the direction we want to go, but I didn't want to start it without the approval of the members at large

I'd be totally fine with new blood starting it. It's not like you would have to continually maintain the damn thing. Just maybe refresh the title every few months. Don't worry about the main post being content-rich. Just a list of Ins and Outs will do.

Should be our permanent future at LB.

I pray he spent his entire rehab working his left foot. I loved his athleticism and defensive help, but he would always turn the ball into the middle on the offensive attack, instead of driving it to the corner and centering it, because he couldnt use his left foot. He would always stop around the 18 yard box, turn inside, and use his right foot.
