Not big on the collar, but I am alright with this.

COUTINHO hat trick tonight vs. Haiti. Already rumors of a PSG, expecting even more after that

I hope Cou retires at Anfield. I know that's unrealistic, but that's my hope
At the very least, he's too young to sell right now. He's only going to get better and fetch a higher price down the road

Is he though? What is his best position? Does he play there? What formations suit him best? He's not really a number 10. He's really more of a false 9. He's fricking brilliant, I'll give you that, but I don't see losing him and what he brings in the same sense that I viewed losing Suarez.
To me, Cou's importance goes past tactics and play, to an extent. I agree completely he gets lost in a lot of matches, and is a tweener when it comes to true position, but to me, he seems to be a key cog in the team chemistry. He kinda brings the older crowd together with the new batch of young guys. He and Firmino seem to be the gel that holds the team chemistry together. While I understand Klopp can be cut throat at times, I think chemistry can be as important as tactic or talent. Ask Leicester. Yes it can be built up over time, but how many times will we be starting from scratch in regards to chemistry? BR was a continuous torturous cycle of it, and to start Klopps reign it took us a while to find our groove. But to end the campaign, we had a ton of chemistry with guys playing well together. I would hate to ship off a central part of that.

Not here, but I never understood why people got upset when coutinho didn't make the Brazil team. There is no upside to him playing for the national team; unless you consider staying in shape. Now everyone has to worry because he is turning heads. I hope he stays for one more year; see if klopp brings us close to a league title, gets us in UCL, and then decide. PSG should be easy to pass up but I can understand not passing on Barcalona. I hope he stays longer. He can be a legend at Liverpool or just a cog in the wheel in Spain.

Man...the transfer market started off well. I still love that we got Karius. Though he's certainly not a currently world class type of talent.
But its really fizzled. Possibility we may sell our best (or second best) player again. We really need to shake the "selling club" mentality.
Possibility the players we're bringing in second (or third) choicers who are more mid-table dross that will result in us being, you guessed it - mid table for the 6th year out of the last 7.
I guess we need to wait until after the Euros - thats my guess as to what Gotze is doing - seeing if a good Euro display gets a desired CL team interested in him. No need for him to rush his transfer after all.

Its sad that his last game was a cup final - and that he was the player by far giving the best effort and fight. It sounds like we wanted him as a coach/player, with the player part in quotations, but he wanted some actual playing time.
Probably another casaulty of our lack of Europe.

yeah, he was a fan/player favorite... but ultimately, I don't think he's a huge loss for our future..

Just because other clubs are interested in our players doesn't mean we're a selling club.

I think we need to all have a come to Jesus moment. We don't have the pull we once did. Signing established world class players is just not realistic anymore. I know many won't like to hear that, but it's true. The Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, and Loris Karius types are the best we'll be able to do until Klopp starts winning things.

even then, I think we'll still be buying players on the early end of their careers.. I doubt we'll be paying huge amounts for superstars in their prime.. maybe the odd one off
I think he will bring them in young, make them super stars and possibly sell them at the peak of their value... and repeat.. knowing when to sell, even with a player at his peak, is a key attribute many very successful managers share..
Klopp's pressing style also suits younger, fresher legs..
Just my opinion though...

I mean, I can't believe people are surprised at our targets this summer... This was basically Klopp's MO at BVB as well.
Difference is, I trust Klopp's talent judgement far far more than I ever did Rodgers

He'll sell if their legs go, but otherwise once he makes stars I don't think he gets rid of them. BVB and LFC have vastly different club philosophies. We have stupid amounts of money. We don't need to sell the talent we develop unless they want to leave. I think one of the reasons he liked the idea of Liverpool is because he'll be able to keep the players he makes into superstars.

I didn't mean immediately, I think he'd obviously like to get the fruits of his development.. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if he lets them go when they still have some good years left... to get top value..

If his youth development is as good as they say, then yeah that makes sense.
I think about what it will be like wondering what new prodigy is developed into a world class player instead of wondering what world class player we're going to drop a small country's GDP on....

Bored watching this Euro match... so a question..
With a presumably healthy Studge, Origi kicking on and Ings back.. Also, given Klopp's preference to only play one striker.. would you give Balo one last shot??
It's probably a moot point, since I assume we want to sell and well, it's Balo..
All that said, I think I would be tempted... especially with the emergence of Origi.. thats the key.. also, just to see Klopp and Mario interact.. I am intrigued..
**If we have a remotely decent offer for him, you could scrap all that above.. I would sell..

the talent is still there, but the immaturity and lack of professionalism will NEVER be....
i mean, considering Klopp's penchant for bringing in young, moldable talent, would you really want a guy like Balotelli around them???
