Yea, it's a little bit of a weird deal.

2 year loan. After first year, Atletico has the right to recall him for a small fee I think. Then after year two, we'll have the opportunity to make it permanent for a bigger fee.

Who knows for sure, but from some things we've heard, Rodgers likes him and we could try to pay extra to make it permanent after this year? I guess we'll see

Question... Is it the Spaish tactical philosophy to have a more attacking oriented LB, while the RB is more defensive in nature? It kinda seems that way when you look across the recent past and current generation of FBs...

it def applies to our two current young spanish FBs

So how are we feeling about tomorrow? Think Brendan will give us the lineup we all want, or stick jamming the 4-3-3/4-2-3-1?

I'm feeling optimistic. I'm calling a 1-1 draw with Sterling getting our only goal.

Arsenal probably played their best match of the EPL season at The Bridge and still lost 2-0. Hazard penalty and a great ball by Fabregas to Costa for the kill shot.

You are at home.. Good luck my red brothers. I'll be rooting you on.

Migs, Moreno, Lovren, Skyrtel, Johnson, Can, Gerrard, Hendo, Cou, BAlo, and STerling.

Can really the only surprise - I really thought Allen with his passing would be on the field so that we can retain possesion.

Allen's primary strength is his ability to win the ball back. We usually only use him in games where we don't expect much possession.

What a fricking joke. Yeah. Chelsea is real quality. It's easy to have quality when you get away with 5 hand balls in one match.

There's no one to blame other than Brendan. He's very quickly becoming the biggest problem this team faces.

Yes. A pure left winger, back in the day, as well. There´s always been a penchant for the damage a ´wrong´ footed player can do in attack.

Also, Spain traditionally has not had an abundance of 9´s, so the roles these people play are laden with more responsibility in attack than in other countries.

I actulaly typed the below out but think I deleted it a week or two ago (don't see it in a quick review of my post history) and I think right now its a very valid question -

My brother is an EPL fan, but doesn't pick a team. He asked me late September if I thought that in two years BR would still be considered a great tactical mind or if he would be remembered as the coaching mind Suarez built.

Right now I can't answer - I think we need Sturridge back for a run of games, and BR has improved every second half of the season, so we need to see how we do there. But we can't afford to fall much further behind and I think we need to do some business in January.

Someone like Song was up for grabs and we didn't even take a look. He could have really helped our squad.

We also clearly either need to play Sterling up top or get another FWD with speed as STurridge being unavailable is clearly an every few months type of thing.

There is no doubt that Suarez is one of the world's best, but remember that he didn't light the world on fire under KK... Sure the quality was always there, but it was playing in BRs system and BR adapting that system, that really allowed him to flourish in the EPL...

That said, as a great of a job that he did last season, this one has been underwhelming... partly due to the selection of players, whether that be through injury or the players he bought (or didn't buy).. But, I really have no problem with the younger guys because I think Markovic, Can, Moreno, Manquillo and Origi all have huge upsides... I hope he is around to see them develop..

Obviously, we are missing a real DM, but its the other end of the pitch that is most concerning... I just hope Studge doesn't feel too much pressure to pull this team up, when he gets back..

edit: I do think BR may need to be knocked down a peg or two.. He definitely has a cockiness about him, this season, that I don't believe finishing 2nd earns you...

I think he is and can be the right man for this job, but he'll find out very quickly that people have short memories... ask Rafa..

But wasn't his "system" thrown out the window last season to accommodate both Suarez and Sturridge? BR's system seems to be about passing the ball a lot from the back, and suffocating the opposition with possession, and then I guess somehow finding a way to create an attacking opportunity. His first season here we looked very good, but couldn not score goals. We would dominate possession, give up some cheap goal, and that was the end of it. Last season we abandoned all that, and just bludgeoned the opposition with 2 strikers, and we almost won the league. This year it's back to BR's stupid system, and it just doesn't fricking work.

Well, his traditional formation of 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 was thrown out the window, but it was still the system that he adapted to his available talent... That was one of the reasons I gave him so much credit as opposed to AVB, who continued to play his system, damn the players...

Don't get me wrong, Suarez and his exceptional talent was a huge part of that... but so was Studge/Sterling/Cou...

Sanchez would have been the prefect player IMO... but he didn't want to come. I like Lallana, but the £25mm spent on him would be have been better off spent on a quality DM... Lovren has been the biggest bust, but hopefully he can get to where he was at points during last year... I still think Sakho is our best defender and initially I thought Lovren was brought in to replace Skrtel... I'm guessing Rodgers may not hold Sakho in the highest regard... but thats £37mm worth of LCB right there...

I'd like to see us recall Ilori and get a nice run of him and Sakho in the first team...
