It wasn't a year and it led to some of his best performances for the national team immediately after.

It's one thing to be upset Landy didn't make the squad, but how about not bashing the other players who did make it. You don't know how hard those guys worked and the hours they put in

Neither did Landon.

Four months =/= one year.

I'm in.

He looks like shite, both physically and in terms of his play. Not to mention his media comments and generally acting like a pussy.

He was great in his prime, but he was never THAT good that he can just show up out of shape. This isn't Pele we're talking about.

Ever been in peak physical shape, then not done a damn thing for four months? That shite takes a toll. Four months can do a shite ton of damage to someone's fitness. He is 32, he should know that his body will not just stay how it was over a four month break.

I don't know how anyone is arguing that he should be on the team. He didn't come into camp in peak condition, and the others dedicated every waking moment in preparation for THIS World Cup. Who gives a flying frick about the past ones? By that logic, Michael Jordan should still be on the Olympic Basketball team because he is the GOAT.

Donovan screwed himself. Even if there were something personal to it, if Donovan comes in and is in peak physical condition, he makes it harder for JK to make the call he did. He didn't even do himself that favor. I love Donovan, but you can't half-arse your preparation leading to a World Cup.

One last thing... JK is not just doing this for the World Cup this time around. He is setting up US soccer for the future. He has a few experienced guys, and has given them a leadership role, surrounding them with young and talented players. They are the future of the USMNT, and I feel like so many young people being on this team is an obvious move for future posture on the World Cup scene.

What are you talking about? He was arguably our most dynamic player in the games he played in after his sabbatical.
