I'm referring to the guys who are talking about rule changes: stopping the clock, I heard one guy say that red cards should have that player sent off but still allow 11 men, timeouts (which they tried in an u23 cup), etc.

The first WC I watched was 1986 with my dad. We've watched every single one since and have been to 2 of them (USA 94 and SA '10). All of a sudden people want to turn soccer into the NFL. That's not what it is.

You sound like a MLB "Purist" that is slowly killing that sport. Accept that in order for any sport to grow that it will have to change. Don't let your sport become apprehensive about making a change until years later, when it could have been done much earlier and improved the sport. Often times change can be for the better. More fans = more opinions. However, do not fret because after the World Cup soccer will go back to its normal place in the US and you will rarely hear opinions on it again :)

Rule change that would be beneficial that I heard on Mike and Mike was Yellow Cards for Flopping. I know it is apart of the game, but maybe it would help alleviate some of it.

Already a rule. Most refs are just too afraid to make that move. It's one thing to wave play on to say it wasn't enough contact for a foul. It's another for them to have the balls to step up and card someone for it, especially in a tournament where 2 yellow cards is a missed match.

Its game day so i refuse to tell you why most rule changes being suggested (like red card for flopping, no offsides, or replay for pk calls) is completely different than baseball purists not wanting to add instant replay and it would be more like baseball changing the rules to where you get 4 balls and 4 strikes.
Or how the changes that are being suggested have been suggested multiple times and how everyone is tired of explaining how the changes although good in intention would have drastic results that would detract from the game.

I understand what the op is trying to get across but you need new faces to keep the game relevant.

I came to this board when I first started watching soccer around a year and half ago and I was received like a troll at first until most realized that I was being genuine with my questions.

Now it's easily my second favorite sport and really have no gripes except the yellow card accumulation from match to match

Been watching long before '86 and support this. Have seen too many games ruined by a team unrightfully going down a man.

Don't worry about me, I'll be gone for another 4 years after the world cup is over. I don't want any rule changes or anything, just don't care about any leagues and have better things to do with my time than invest it in watching the Premier League or MLS.

Congrats to the USA on a fine tourney, 1-1-2 is nothing to hang your head about. Can't wait to watch my next soccer match in 4 years. Go USA!
