Does the ref's whistle have magical healing powers?? Because it seems to be the only thing that makes the pain go away.

Yeah, Jozy totally felt fine after the ref blew his whistle yesterday.

I find flopping/diving a big turnoff as I'm sure many other casual fans do.

We all hate it. The problem is a lot of casual fans or new fans don't know when someone is diving or actually in pain. For instance, let somebody rake your leg with their studs and see what you do. That isn't flopping.

A non contact injury that ended with a player being carted off the field doesn't really seem to belong in a flopping convo now does it?

You claim to not be trolling, but once it was pointed out that there is a punishment for diving, you have continued arguing.

Ok, how about Clint? Total flop, right?

You are acting as if every time some one goes down, it's a flop. And that simply isn't the case. Sure, some soccer players are more dramatic with their flopping (particularly in south and central america), but if you honestly think it is more rampant in soccer than it is in football and basketball, well, you would be sorely mistaken.

Flopping sucks, I hate it. But anybody that uses it as a reason to hate on soccer, is just looking for a reason to hate on soccer.

It's rarely legitimate. I played soccer my entire life. I've never rolled on the ground ever. I once ran with a chipped shin. Almost shite my pants but I didn't roll around. I think it's a culture thing. In America men don't want to look like they are in pain.

The only caveat is all these basketball players trying to recreate the damn Willis Reed moment and over embellishing injuries so they can look like heroes(I'm looking at you Paul pierce)

It just looks bad. You rarely get into a full sprint in basketball. In soccer that's usually when 'flops' happen. You bet your arse if you're in a dead sprint and get tripped up, you're going to flop around like a fish out of water trying to catch yourself.

I'm not arguing against there being legitimate injuries in soccer. I'm just curious if FIFA has of is looking into deterrents for diving.

There are a few trolls running around this board. Do the actual soccer fans have some sort of panic room where we all could go?

I don't understand why you keep asking this when it's been pointed out (multiple times in this thread) that there is a punishment for diving.

They have/are, but it's a huge judgement call in a fast paced sport, and considering the amount of backlash refs get in soccer, they are gun shy to make the call.

People like basketball, the players are far bigger bitches, and this doesn't get covered nearly as much as when it happens in footy.

Americans (namely the 'I only like football, frick everything else' kind of Americans) have just been trained to find something to hate about the sport.

(Not directing this at you, just in general)

I have never understood why a lot of Americans act like you can't like multiple sports. I love football, golf, baseball, basketball, and soccer. It doesn't have to be one way or the other.

And I can't stand basketball players that are known flippers ie Wade, Paul, etc.

But I do see the difficulty of trying to make these types of calls during a live match.

So what do you do with basketball? Does it deter you from watching games? Has it made you question the integrity of the league? Or have you just learned to live with it?

Same deal.

Yes to all three. I try to avoid known flippers, foul calls/free throws most certainly affect the outcome of games, and I skip out when it's ridiculous.

I've never seen a yellow card handed out for diving during a match. Are there post match reviews for them as well?
