It's more of a 3-4-3, but the wing backs sit higher up than the two central mids. It's not the 3-2-2-3 Arsenal formation from back in the day that you're probably referring to.

My favorite formation to run, when I have the personnel, is this flexible 3-4-3 that Pep ran at Bayern. LINK

It can easily become several different formations without changing personnel if I ever need to tweak it in game.

I also want to do the Bielsa 3-3-1-3 formation with inverted wing backs some time. It's great for stopping inverted wingers in a 4-3-3.

Maybe. I like experimenting with different kinds of formations, The standard 4-2-3-1 or the 4-3-3 get old.

I ran the diamond exclusively with United. With NCFC, I've been using 4-3-3 with the winger high and towards the center and a CAM.

When I want to me defensively, I switch to a flat 4-4-2.

I like the 3 back formations in lower leagues because a lot of teams run the 4-4-2. If a team throws out a 4-3-3, I switch to a defensive 4-3-3.

How do you know which formations work best against other formations? I'm clueless.

The old tactical adage is that you should usually one more CB than the opposition's striker count. So, 3-back formations work best against 2-striker ones, although ones with wingers who track back can work against anyone. (Your wingers just need to have great attacking skills and stamina on top of solid defensive skills.)

I was going to do a full transfer window update, but I made this picture instead. This took far more work:

Those are their real stats as the end of the January transfer window in my 3rd year.

Miazga is awesome on this game. Had him at Watford.

How does Hyndman have 81 pace while Miazga's is in the 60s? Is this a new feature btw? Never seen a team set up like this before.

Cornet is good. He starts off at 68 too, so he's developed at a solid rate.

Hyndman has more pace due to his very high acceleration and the fact that his role on team has him scoring goals and beating players off the dribble or turn.

And I just copied the stats into a spreadsheet to calculate their updated cards.

If Hyndman is playing like that in two years I will be very very happy. 76 rated at 21? He would be our best player ever

I paid 900k for him. Would sell for around 3.5-4 million. Awesome value.

If I do get promoted to Premier League, I'm likely going to sell Cornet for 8-10 million so I can buy some more players. I've been sticking up on great deals and free transfers so my team is packed with guys rated 67-72 outside the starting lineup.

I couldn't afford Cornet in my Ligue 1 career, but snagged him on loan from Lyon. I'm still in year 1, so he's just 69 overall, but he's really good.

I paid $1.5 million for him after I sold James Wilson after my 1st season.

Stupid FIFA transfer logic. I listed a 34 year old striker I'm trying to get rid of. A club makes me a low offer, so I counter by agreeing to send him and 500k for a striker they have that is 32 but 4 overall higher. They reply that the player I offered they aren't interested in, even though they contacted me about him first.

That is just the default answer whenever they don't want to do a swap. Try offering more money?

I thought that might be the case. I never swap players, so I hadn't run across it. Anyway, the deadline passed so I will have to wait until January to swing a deal.

Goodness, I'm currently in the transfer window for Year 4. It's uh, been really interesting. I currently have way too many players though for the size of my wage budget. Trying to get rid of several to hopefully get below 40 players.
