I got an xbox one and FIFA for Christmas as well. Starting an ultimate team and will see how that goes. I normally play that and seasons online and that's pretty much it. Will probably wait to start seasons until I'm comfortable. I take that seriously.
Ran through divisions 10 and 9 on ultimate team without a hiccup. Probably gonna put together a shitty rare gold team of some league and then buy packs for the remainder.

Alright, here's my Year 4 Update, starting with the end of season 3:
Championship Season:
I really struggled a bit starting out with my team and fell below 10th for quite a bit. I think it had to do with so many game and the fact I was prioritizing Europa League over normal League play. After that, I was able to go on a solid run and Derby County and Watford both sold their top goal scorers in the Winter window. That allowed me to play a lot of catch up as my schedule got easier to manage. As I caught up, I still couldn't beat Derby County (lost both on a combined score of 6-2) and was only able to draw Crystal Palace, but I got lucky enough to be playing for a spot in automatic promotion on the very last game of the season against Watford. It was a 3 way tie for 1st place, and I won the game 2-1. Off to the Premiership as Watford and Crystal Palace ended up the other two teams promoted.
My Europa League stay ended short in the Knockout Stage where I lost 4-2 to Sporting CP. I made $2 million for winning the group stage though.
I once again went to the FA Cup Final where I lost to Chelsea 2-0.
Premiership Season:
Starting out, I was picked to finish 20th in the league this season. Awesome.
Was given a $16 million transfer budget with $80k/wage budget. So as with all clubs with sudden new money, I spent myself to the point where I may be forced into consolidation.
Transfer Window:
Starting with the Winter Window of Year 3:
Additions:
Isaiah Brown - 21 yo, 72 rated RW from Vitesse for 950k. Major value as he's valued at $3 million.
Diego Poyet (West Ham) - 22 yo, 71 rated CDM for 400k. Last year of contract.
Bobby Wood - 25 yo, 69 ST signed on a free transfer.
Stephen Arthurworrey - 23 yo, 69 CB signed on free transfer.
Departures:
Maxime Dupe - My starting GK sold to Aberdeen for 2 million.
Scot Bennett - CB sold to Barnet for $110k. Never played
Thierry Audel - Another crap CB sold for 50k to Bray Wanderers.
Blair Adams - $525k to Charlton Athletic.
Loans:
Jerome Prior - 1 year loan from Bordeaux with a $1.2 million buyout.
Ben Chilwell - 1 year loan from Leiceister with a $1.2 million buyout.
Kingsley Coman - 1 year loan from Juve with $1.3 million buyout.
Krystian Bielek - 1 year loan from Arsenal with a $600k buyout.
Dennon Lewis - 1 year loan from Watford with a $1.1 million buyout
Shay Facey - 1 year loan from Manchester City with a $850k buyout
Summer Window of Year 4:
Additions:
Divock Origi - 23 yo, 81 rated ST from Liverpool for $10 million on 70k wage. My biggest signing of the window. Very pleased with it.
Steven Berjwin - 21 yo, 76 rated LW from PSV for $6 million on $30k wage.
Lewis Cook - 21 yo, 73 rated CDM from Leeds Scum for $2.5 million on 15k wage.
Braford Jamieson IV - 21 yo, 71 rated ST from LA Galaxy for $1.4 million. Bought out his loan.
Demarai Gray - 74 Rated LM from Juventus for $4.1 million on 35k wage. Pace for days.
Leon Bailey - 70 rated ST from Gent for $2 million on $7k wage
Thierry Ambrose - 73 rated ST from Man City for $3.3 million on $32k wage
Jorge Mere - 72 rated CB from Sporting Gibon for $1.8 million on 16k wage
Sebastian Vegas - 71 rated CB from Barcelona for $1.9 million on 20k wages
Departures:
Maxwel Cornet - $9 million to Roma. Goodbye sweet prince.
Bradford Jamieson IV - $3 million to AC Milan. I couldn't help it.
Gboly Ariyibi - $2.5 million to Celta Vigo. Just wasn't going to be a lot of playing time for him.
Kyle De Silva - $575k to Charlton Athletic (woo roster space).
Youth CAM - $3.5 million to Charlton Athletic
Youth CB - $2.2 million to Napoli
Youth CB - $1.6 million to Barcelona
Loans:
Andre Moreira - 72 rated GK on 2 year loan with $2.2 million buyout
Adam Armstrong - 72 rated CF on short loan with $2.5 million buyout
Sadly, I could have gotten Munir from Barca for $8 million, but I decided to go for more depth than star power.
With all of those moves, here is my main squad excluding a few players that get some time:
I'll likely edit this as I go back for fact checking. Glad this is done.

you bought and sold BJIV in the same window?

How do you like Jorge Mere?
I've been keeping my eye on him, and he has a potential of 82.

Yeah....
I was able to sign him from the original loan deal. I was expecting to keep him, but after seeing people put in bids for him, I just had to see what I could get.
With Bailey and Ambrose on my shortlist, I thought I'd get some good value out of Jamieson.

He's doing ok so far. I like the versatility in both him and Vegas. Although, I'm getting scored on a ton (1 clean sheet in 6 games), but that's mostly due to the giant gap in talent.

Who is Gray? Is he really with Juve? A google search turned up nothing. That pace is insane. Also, your Jamaican looks like he's 15.

I have the team icon from the team I purchased them from.
Juve bought him after year 1, and he was just a role player there.
And yes, Leon Bailey looks like a baby.

How far has Miranchuk progressed in your CM?
FIFA massively underrates him.
ETA - If Zuev is 74, Miranchuk should be around 80.

Only 71. Looks like he's riding the bench. Actually a pretty good value, may look at him in the transfer window.

i play seasons and started last week. i'm on div 6 after winning 7-10 in order
it's starting to get more difficult. same old problems (speed play and that direct collision/slide tackle strategy)
tough to find people playing 4-star teams already, so i have to play the super elite 5-star teams

I'd only get PES if I played on PC because the mod support is supposed to be pretty good.
I love being able to download kits and stuff for teams, yeah it seems like a hassle, but you can download classic kits and if you're a editing nut like, me design your own and slap it in right in console.
some of the stuff I found online. I'm working on recreating the '94 USA Denim jersey.

i should have a lot of time for a few days here and will possibly start seasons. ultimate team is so addicting, but im already tired of the contracts/healings/lineup switches. once you get a set team ready with a bunch of consumables, this is no issue, but the startup is boring.
i normally play with a team like dortmund or arsenal or something. wouldnt call them super elite but i expect to get matched against the barcas and real madrids, which i just deal with. im a little nervous to start because i tend to stake a lot of my self worth into my seasons success

Just made it to D1 in seasons. I can't stand FUT though. Too fast and too much bullshite.

No, but I will commit the rest of my life to seeing this happen.

What is this and how does it work?
the speed play is just guys throwing out 40+ yard long through balls to speed guys (messi, ronaldo, etc) over and over again until they finally get a 1 on 1 with the GK. low % play but it will eventually break through (esp if you play possession b/c your backs push up).
the direct collision is just when they rush up to your offensive players and throw themselves at you. usually my foul comparison is like 12/1 or something. tons of fouls, dislodging balls, etc. high risk/reward, but you can only really punish them if you get cards (i'm working on it). i like how this year lets you dislodge balls better, but it's just a learning curve to adapt to it (i last played in fifa 14)
basically i try to play possession and defensively they're just throwing guys all over the place trying to disrupt the pass or my player. total kamikaze defense. if they get it, they immediately try a long through ball to a really fast dribbler. i stop it, do possession again, and it starts again.
