Fox has no control of the camera cuts. They do not do the filming or cutting. Every network gets access to the same feed, done by the tournament organizers. All Fox does is their own graphics.

I had this thought earlier today. How does it work when a bunch of countries are broadcasting an event? I assume there is only one camera crew. Does each network have a truck with a producer? I would think the network can choose which camera they switch to. For instance, I'm sure the Russian broadcast will talk more about Russians than the English. So, they will have more closeups of Russian players. It just seems incredibly difficult to have every network dealing with one team of cameras AND one producer.

I think they might have more than one crew because of the ad boards

I just know the commentators have a feed that is 5-10 seconds ahead so they know when replays are coming or when the camera is gonna pan to a specific player/coach etc. I don't know anything about the production logistics, so anything I say there would just be speculation.

Edit: Now that I think about it I'm not certain how even the logistics of that quite works. They are commentating what they see in real time, and then they see what is actually going to be broadcast with the replays and whatnot before we actually do so they know when to talk about that? Not really certain.

I was told about the single feed for all the networks and about the commentators feed from a guy that works at fs1. Have no knowledge outside of that.

ive been watching some of the univision coverage (roku fubo for the HD, syncing the laptop fs1 stream sound for the american) and the only difference ive noticed is replays and graphics. univision would cut to some replays that fox didnt, with their own tech overlays.

theres also some really annoying cgi Coke ads that extend up from the ad boards into the stands. dont know if those are on fox or not.

Russian announcers are very mechanical.

Smolnikov, to Kokorin, back to Smolnikov, to Berezutskiy. They do that for every pass.

One thing that Fox has kicked the shite out of ESPN is on the selection of the token female announcer.

Aly Wagner actually provides legit analysis which is the polar opposite of Abby not being able to form complete sentences and trying to make everything a soapbox issue.

Fox is terrible at ALL sports coverage tbh. As for soccer specific coverage, I love NBC and their coverage of the premier league, and I don't mind espn's coverage at all (though I cringe every time Michael ballack attempts to speak)

Fox is just god awful across the board.

ESPN soccer match and tournament coverage is far, far superior to their ESPN FC horseshite and that website.
