I have no clue why we haven't tried to buy Mertsecker.

I'm relatively new to soccer so I watched a bunch of it over this summer on fsc and Arsenal has won me over. I love how they play, like their history and have read fever pitch, also their colors/jerseys. I'll be following them all season long.

Just wanted to let y'all know you have another fan on board

It's preseason and Diaby and Gibbs are injured. Change is in the air.

I know you guys think Szczeny is promising, but how did you guys not take a shot at Ajax's Maarten Stekelenburg for only £5.5m???

In the current transfer market, this must the bargain of the year.

Shay Given went to Villa for less.

There's no point in committing to the youth policy like we have done if we don't give those players a chance. Wenger gave him a chance, and to be fair, Szczesny has played extremely well, keeping more clean sheets than Fabianski and Almunia.

If Szczesny didn't step up this year, we would have been in the market for a GK. Luckily we aren't, and we can still get young players to come to Arsenal, which is really the only way we will remain competitive.

Fair enough...i didnt realize he was only 21. Well, if not you, definitely Tottenham should have...Friedel is on the other end of the age spectrum...though that's not of your concern, I'm sure...

A big part of Wenger's hesitancy in the transfer market in general is because of his belief in the academy. People like to portray him as some sort of miser who needlessly penny pinches. While there is a small amount of truth to that, when he first arrived at Arsenal, he was spending plenty, of course, not the crazy amounts like Man U were spending on Veron and Ferdinand, but spending small amounts on lots of players.

When he arrived in 1996, the academy wasn't to his standards, so it was basically redesigned from scratch. Jack Wilshere represents the first true class of the Arsenal academy since its restructure, and all those players in that class have good chances to be PL or Championship level players. If we can get four Arsenal level players out of that class, it would be worth that restructuring. We already have two in Frimpong and Wilshere, and hopefully more will step up.

Im trying so hard not to get my hopes up this year. Im afraid that if we lose cesc and nasri we will replace them with younger guys who will leave when they start to break out. Im going to catch every game I can but these guys are like a hot girl at the bar. She uses her looks to draw you in and make you feel like tonight is finally your night you buy her drinks to pave the way and then boom..you go home a broken and miserable man. *sigh* Gunner for life. Hang on new AFC fans, your emotions are in for a wild one haha

As long as Wenger is here, we'll always find players to replace them. At one point in time, it was Cesc and Nasri replacing other players who left. Of course we might struggle without them, but I'm excited to see our younger players.

So much can happen that hopes should always be high for Arsenal.

The talk of Nasri to another EPL team is a joke. Arsene isn't going to sell him to ManU or City. I would rather him walk on a free than sell him this year. Cesc, who knows? Barca's finances are in shambles and we won't sell unless it is all cash. These guys are pros, if they both stay and we sign Mertsecker, we are a favorite to win a trophy. Mertsecker and TV5 would make for a solid CB pairing.

Oh no doubt I would jump for joy if we sign mertsaker but I dont see it going down. We need some strength back there with TV5, I just hope it happens

I hope we dont sell cesc. He would not take over in that stacked midfield at barca though I understand the desire to play with friends. BTW how come players get away with the crap like Xavi does with trying to unseat players? I dont wabt to derail the thread so if some body wants to PM me thats cool too.

I think mt biggest fear though is somebody like Jack leaving for a City or ManU.

Not my night guys, I recently watched Ian Wright Highlghts with a dose of Henry/Bergkamp/Overmars

Reports on Twitter that Eboue is going to Galatasaray for £3.5 mil. I'll miss his antics. LINK
