I don't have a problem letting Jenks go, as Wenger knows best but frick me if we let him leave for 3m. He's already been capped at the international level. He's better than a whole load of fullbacks. He's signed to long term contract. He should be going for 7Mish.

Calum said AW sees him as a CB, RB, and CM. i think he will fill in possibly at all those positions this season. i think bellerin could be rated above jenks long-term, and thus be our debuchy replacement in a couple of years if calum becomes a CB, but i can't see him being a full-on deputy this season. i could see him getting a couple of cup games, but if debuchy went out, no question calum is our RB.

I think we'd see Flamini at RB before Bellerin in a big game if needed.

And this is all assuming Jenks is loaned out or sold. I don't mind Chambers at RB or as a utility player, but relying on Chambers and Bellerin as our back ups is as suicidal, considering the reality of playing in the PL, with as many games as we play. Chambers has played in a team that doesn't leave its wingbacks exposed the same way we do, and it will take some time before he understands his positioning. That's the biggest thing Jenks has had problems with, and he's blessed with great athleticism. Chambers is clearly better than Jenks going forward, so I don't mind Jenks leaving, but I'm not sure about replacing him with two 19 year olds.
Chambers sounds like a Flamini replacement as well.
I've read that Wenger sees Wilshere as Arteta's replacement at the deep-lying role, which is where I've always seen him, but the pivot of Ramsey and Wilshere working together rests on our ability to protect Mertesacker and allow him to do what he does.

apparently the sale rumors were BS. jenks will be loaned.
i don't think it's suicidal. there will be a learning curve, but i think chambers is a fine backup. better than most out there. i think chambers is better defensively and offensively than jenks (but we all know that i don't love him

i just think it was a bad sign of how AW rates jenks that he played so few times in a crowded season with our no. 1 RB aging and being out of contract.
we're all speculating about this tactical stuff. really excited to see what AW does!

Me too. I'm just worried we get off to a slow start with so many players not yet in camp because of the World Cup.

Just going by our injury record it is pretty risky. I know we all hope the new signings in the fitness room will help but there is a chance they won't.
I'm hoping Wenger shows tactical variation. We have a lot of options to play a lot of different ways.

I worry that I'm spoiled, but telling myself we're finally doing what one of the top clubs in the world should be doing regarding signings.
So having said that, as good as this signing period has been, I really hope we land a top notch DM.

finally updated part 2 of the OP for transfers.
sanchez isn't in austria because of a visa issue. had to go to paris and since we're leaving austria on thursday, they just had him go straight to london to do some work there.

You don't see jenks cus he's being loaned out to that fat pos at west ham. Hopefully he gets regular pt. So I'm guessing chambers will be backup rb and CB. As well as flamini. We could still sign another player, but don't we have to let someone go?

I wonder who else we're looking at right now. seems like all our linked DMs have dried up. no other CB has been linked. one more cherry on top and I think we can win the title. right now I'd lean towards Chelsea.
