Ornstein just tweeted Chambers will be announced tomorrow and that he is NOT a Vermaelen replacement. So if we sell Vermaelen we'll be looking for another, more experienced CB. Also said we're still looking for a CDM, which makes me glad bc that Arteta/Flamini spot is definitely our weak link

I like the color scheme on the away kits. However, I do not like collars on jerseys at all, so I definitely don't like THOSE collars.

yeah, chambers was bought to insure jenks gets a couple of years of first team football at an EPL club. i think we'll reevaluate him then. chambers does have the benefit of being a potential CB so in that sense, he kinda replaced sagna as our fourth CB. if jenks can improve his technical ability enough to be our RB over the next couple of years, I think chambers would slide over to RCB.
looks like that means bellerin is likely on his way out on loan as well. if chambers is our new 4th CB, i think we need to dump miquel and send hayden out on loan. hayden, olsson, akpom, bellerin, and toral all need to get some good experience at a higher level than youth-league football.
just judging from the dozens or so tweets i saw from Soton fans about Chambers, i'm quite pleased with the signing. paid an english premium, it seems, but the kid seems to be a great prospect.
also, a U21 side played an exhibition match and won 5-1. willock and crowley impressed, according to this.

I hope chambers plays CB, I really don't want to get rid of jenks or bellerin. But they need to play to get better.

I seriously doubt we sell either this summer, but their long term future is certainly in doubt.
tafari moore is a big, younger RB prospect we have too. might make sense for him to get more PT at higher youth levels.

Winger sees Chambers as cover at DM, CB, RB. One more CB (if we sell TV5) and I'll be pleased. An elite DM and I'll be thrilled.

I've seen Southampton, but are there any other possibilities of Gnabry and Jenks loaning out to the same club? It would only benefit us to have them gain first team experience and develop chemistry together.

Since we bought Chambers looks now like Jenkinson will be sold to Hull for around 3 million. Not going out on loan.

Sad, I really liked Jenks but 3 mil seems like pittance for an English player. Hope its a loan where he can get more exposure and a better price.

I've seen that they offered that yes.. but I really doubt we'd sell for that and not to mention there have been a multitude of rumors of Jenks going on loan to West Ham which seems a MUCH better option.

Chambers is only a 63 on FIFA. Not impressed.

There is also the possibility Jenks could move to CB as well. I mean, he has as much technical ability as Mertesacker and is a way, way, way better athlete. At his best, Jenks is an international player. The fact that he can't get a run of games doesn't mean he can't still be that player. When you are as good an athlete as Jenks is, you can get away with technical deficiencies. Jenks's main problem as I saw it was the lack of composure in one on one defending.

yeah, he would scare me as a CB unless he developed defensively. a year or two out on loan would do him a lot of good. but even then, he's probably not going to turn out better than chambers.
