Used to be, being aligned with the president in a campaign was a good thing. How bad does your opponent have to be, to just say I'm not her and she is with the predident?

so the Republicans' worst possible candidate can beat the Democrats' 3 term sitting incumbent?

not exactly an endorsement for Democrats, or Mary Landrieu. You guys should just shut up. You are not helping your case.

go back to the drawing board, do some self examination. think about what your party has done and is doing to this country and try to start thinking about how to be statesmen and women. stop thinking about how to increase the size of gov't. try and remember what your most famous politician said..."ask not what your country can do for you...yada, yada, yada."

If leftists REALLY believe this, then that should actually worry them even more. What you're basically saying is, ML lost to a chump. Imagine if Republicans ran a talented politician against that worthless bitch!!!!

People making fun of Cassidy are like LSU fans making fun of a team after they beat us BADLY

Explain how he's not ready, please. Are you the type easily satisfied with your representation so long as they are eloquent in their duplicity? Are you satisfied so long as the grubering sounds nice?

Hes a physician and likely more intelligent than 80% of the current senators. He'll do well.

Meh. Don't fall into his rhetorical trap.

Frankly, his griping about Cassidy not being ready for the big leagues when Cassidy just ripped the EXPERIENCED candidate a new a-hole is actually an insult to his own candidate more than of Cassidy.

My point was that if we're honest about it, it doesn't take much to function in Congress. Just look at the democrats.

I'm just saying that for somebody for whom this race was such a yawner, you sure seem to be posting a lot about it. And most of it appears to be critical of the winner. I'm not quite so certain Mary would've gotten the same treatment had the roles been reversed.

I'm just being critical of how Cassidy came across in his ads. I honestly don't know a lot about him. But I do know a lot of Republicans (as evidenced by a few posts on this board) disliked his campaign and don't think he's particularly impressive. Who knows? He may turn out to be great. He just didn't seem very impressive to me, and I wish he would have run more of an "ideas" campaign. Exactly what he thought he could do other than be "anti-Obama".

Then maybe you should stop posting in this thread.

He's far from the worst candidate they could have run. They ran much worse candidates against Mary in 1996, 2002, and 2008.

The thing is, he didn't have to do any of that to beat Mary this time around. Her negatives were just too high

That's good enough for me for the time being.

Obama is the absolute opposite of what a POTUS should be. Anything that opposes him is in the right direction compared to where we are heading.

We can fine tune the course later - right now we need to avoid the cliff.

He'll be able to use personal experience as a physician in the senate when coming up with changes to Obamacare. That was my "1a" reason for voting for him.

Probably true which should be all the more concerning for Louisiana democrats. With an 18 year incumbent, they couldn't beat a guy even Republicans weren't all that enthused with.

We didn't have a stronger candidate because two[2] stronger GOP candidates turned it down. I know for a fact 2 turned it down, to get party support and big money. One may run, if Vitter gets elected Governor--if--. I am on a first name basis with one US Senator and 2 Congressmen from the 80's when we were serving together in the Legislature and ate lunch together 5 days a week during the sessions. Our wives were shopping friends too.

So you're DG from Bastrop? I knew you when I was a kid. I grew up in Mer Rouge. Some of my kin were active in the "Edwards Air Force" in '83. I was 13 or so but I was around at a lot of functions.

Well Dardenne is running for Governor, and Scalise is moving up in Leadership in the House.

I really don't think, though I have no way of knowing, that this was Cassidy's idea.

I believe he did it after being asked, and saw that he had a solid shot at stopping a woman who voted for ACA, to which he was vehemently opposed.

He doesn't strike me as having an ego, either.

I believe you have his first initial right but not his second.
