Didn't someone post that, if salaries were based on incoming revenue alone, each WNBA player would owe the league $60,000?

she wouldn't make a division 3 college roster except as a token walkon.
Caitlin is 6'0" and 154 pounds.

Just for fun, I looked at the roster for the starters at my local high school (only 3A out of 5A on the Texas scale. Think 120 or so kids per grade level)

The average starter on the boy's team is about 6'1" and about 195 pounds.

Considering that I have probably watched over 100 NBA games this season compared to I don’t even know a single team’s name or cities that have a team in the WNBA

And when the cba ends they can negotiate better terms. If Clark, Reese, the PG from UCONN, etc are the faces and bring in more views/fans, they have more bargaining power. That we will see. Until then, the salary was set from years pf a league stuggling for viewers. Maybe it will change and if it does, Clark etc will all make more.

But does anyone think that number will DECREASE upon her entering the WNBA?

That has been an open discussion. In many professional revenue sports, we have seen a pattern where the initial interest is driven with collegiate sports with the pro leagues developing there audience with follow on viewership based on the connection with collegiate players

It’s difficult to project where the WNBA is at. If Clark excels, has the viewership that many national brand owners anticipate, etc, she likely has greater long term endorsement potential. If she gets buried in the league she may not draw as many eyes and endorsement deals as she grabbed during her collegiate popularity

I heard on Fox business that the NBA made 6 Billion last year, and the WNBA made 60 million. That is the reason for the low salaries.

With women's basketball becoming more popular, and some big names are joining next year, I would assume revenue would increase somewhat.

Their goal should be to use the new stars for paving the way for a future generation to enjoy the benefits. They won't see it during their career. Sure they will likely get raises but nothing touching the NBA level salaries.

Wing span, lateral quickness, going under screens, going over screens, etc. She would be in for a world of shite against a G League or NBA defensive player that would be attached to her hip.

Bill Burr nailed this so perfectly with his rant about the WNBA.

Was coming here to say that. And there is no counter to Burr’s position.

Exactly. If the pay is so awful in the WNBA and women are equal to men, then why not take her talents to the NBA where surely she'd be among the greats, right? After all, she's better than Pistol Pete according to the media.

Journalist Lisa Ling wrote on Instagram: “Steph Curry makes more per game than what Caitlin Clark is making for 4 years! With the toll sports and travel take on women’s bodies, is this even a living wage?

You mean to tell me there are physical differences, or does that only come into play when trying to play a victim card?

I know WNBA games have not brought in comparable numbers by any stretch of the imagination, but this is disgraceful. Do better for all of our women athletes!”

Exactly. So where is the money supposed to come from?

You seem to be grasping at straws. So some people say they’re surprised at the difference between the league salaries. BFD

I'm grasping at straws right hotshot? Here's your president of the free world just now on X:

“Women in sports continue to push new boundaries and inspire us all,” Biden wrote on X. “But right now we’re seeing that even if you’re the best, women are not paid their fair share.

“It’s time that we give our daughters the same opportunities as our sons and ensure women are paid what they deserve.”

You and your fellow suburban Left white women are too obtuse to even see the irony. My God you walked yourself into that one.

Catlin Clark as phenomenal as she is in Women's BB probably wouldn't make a starting 5 roster in the G league. Might not make the bench on many teams.

Forget about NBA...

And not a single of these outraged women actually watch the WNBA. Or attend games.

go to any major city and the majority of varsity basketball teams have 4 or 5 starters playing above the rim. she would be completely dominated even at that level. it would be embarrassing.

They don’t want equal opportunity they want equal outcomes.
