no it hasn't.

To the OP, social values being fought at the Federal Level have made the divide greater, but that's not to discount the divide that's come from the left going further left than ever before. The far right, and most certainly the mainstream right even goes farther left, but none more outrageously extreme than the far left has, and when you look at it, all of American politics have shifted left. That is because of the far left themselves controlling the airwaves, MSM, entertainment, music, the education of our young in molding their minds, etc. The constant diet of leftist dribble in the MSM, entertainment, and education that has been force fed American generations since the 60's has done more irreparable harm to this country and the current generations making up the voting populous that it cannot be denied just how distant we are from the basic core principles we all tended to accept as basic American values from the 50's and before. The erosion has just taken it's course, and desensitized people to accept just about anything, as long as it comes with a pretty bow attached, has a feel good bunch of nonsense attached, or is for our own good and safety.

Honestly the divide has been great since The War of Northern Aggression and will remain so until the red states finally have independence. It boils done to a fundamental divide in ideology/principle. Basically the North/statists see the federal government as the solution leading to a nation of dependents while the South/conservatives want less federal control/interference in a market economy and more independence/self-reliance. You can give a man a fish and feed him for a day or you can teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. If he doesn't want to be taught then that's on him.

That's ridiculous.

I submit it's the same motivation as just about everything else - profit.

They want to eliminate this collusion between gov't and corporations so that government can act on the best interest of the people instead of itself and the corporations feeding it.

That's idiotic. The govt HATES corporations. That's why we are having a JOBLESS RECESSION. The longest recovery in the history of recoveries. Why? Biz Con. The corporations know that this administration is anti free market.

That's why we have had no growth. That's why so much capital is sitting idle.

Black man becomes president.

Southern states freak out.

Precisely my point. The media is hell bent on creating an environment where responsible spending and good judgement are a thing of the past. Dumbing-down the market place in behalf of their advertisers is their end game - and the advertisers (with increases sales) will re-up their contracts with the networks. Yes - profit.

There has always been a divide, but social media and cable news has greatly amplified it.

Cannot be done with the New Left Radical "Liberals" that now run the Democrat Party. "Reason" is the mortal enemy of the Left.
