I have a minor in history it’s not my major but I’ve always been fascinated by it and I’ve also always been fascinated by the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

But one thing that has always confused me is that Christians believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah and as far as I understand it Jewish people do not believe he was the Messiah and they are currently still waiting on the Messiah to arrive.

I believe in the Torah it is stated that the Jewish people are God‘s chosen people but then when Jesus came down that changed. And some people would say that the Jews were the reason that Jesus was crucified. At least you hear things like that and from movies like the passion of the Christ.

So if Jewish people are not God‘s chosen people, and they killed Christ, why do American Christians support Jewish people in Israel?

From a military standpoint it makes perfect sense due to the fact that it is beneficial to have a westernized country in the Middle East.

Now does that mean that Israel is innocent, and that they don’t do war crimes and atrocities similar to what Hamas does for Palestine? Absolutely not.

I pretty much view Israel the same as I do Saudi Arabia and that is a strategic ally due to the fact that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and nothing more.

Can some religious person explain the above? I could be misinterpreting something as well.

Do you guys think that the issue will ever resolve between Israel and Palestine, and if so how? I’m looking for complete and complex answers I’m not looking for simple blurb like, “kill all Muslims”. Or some other type of nonsense.

If I’m not mistaken I believe there was some kind of treaty set up to where the holy site could be shared between both countries and it would not belong to either one but I believe some got angry over that and it never happened.

I also believe that when Israel was attacked by the coalition of Arab nations in the six day war that Israel took a lot of land as spoils of war and I believe they still have that but I could be wrong.

Poor eschatology, IMO.

That said, I'm a Christian and I support Israel only in terms of admiring the testicular fortitude they have to protect their people while being surrounded by nations that want them dead.

From a religious standpoint, they all need to repent of their unbelief in Jesus Christ and turn to Him in faith or they will perish like the Muslims who wish them dead.

There’s a reason why the term judeo-Christian exists, but Muslim-Christian does not.

What Christians - Latin, Greek and Most Early Protestants believe

Modern American Christians who have no grasp of history or Church Tradition and then given a large amount of propaganda paid for by Israel directly to their ministers, to also mobilize them to support Republicans in the 1980s.

I’m going to assume this from the angle of the single most evil type of Christian and not the good natured ones who think Israel should be able to defend itself: to incite the Apocalypse. They are praying every day that Israel destroys the Palestinians and build the Third Temple. Families like the Duggars will give tens of thousands of dollars to finance the building of the Third Temple. They think once it’s built that they’ll be raptured.

But most people look at the average Israeli vs the average Palestinian and it’s a no brainer really.

Here’s a short video explaining why there is no peace between Palestine and Israel

Basically, Israel tried to give them what they thought they wanted 5 times. Turns out, Palestinians want Israel to disappear from the map all together. They don’t care about having their own state. You can’t reason and make peace with people like that.

Any group that pays families of homicide bombers that blow up crowded Tel Aviv cafes, is gonna have moral/decent people support the other side.

Politically, it's pretty easy. A Jewish democratic republic >>> Islamic theocratic republic

But the primary reason many American chsitians support defending Israel is for theological reasons. The establishment of the Jewish state after WW2 was seen as the "beginning of the end" so to speak as described in the Book of Revelation. If Israel falls under Islamic control, all the end of days prophecy that they've been hanging onto for the last 70 years goes out the window.

The consequences to Christian theology if Israel goes away would be devastating. It would come as close to invalidating a belief system as can be done with such things.

I don't think it's quite that nefarious for most people. The cognitive dissonance that the fall of Israel would create in the minds of millions of American christians is something they don't want to have to face. As long as Israel exists as an independent Jewish state, they can continue to believe that prophecy will still be fulfilled at some point int he future. Take that away, well...

Most people just want to continue to be able to peacefully accept the narrative in their own minds.

It’s called,” Replacement Theology.”
Some people think that once the Jews rejected Jesus as the Messiah and salvation was offered to the Gentiles, God turned his back on the Jews and the church became the the new people of God.
It goes against a myriad of scriptures and simply ignores all of them that say God will one day restore Israel and the blinders currently on their eyes will be lifted and they will all believe.
This Replacement Theology is embraced by White Supremest groups like the KKK and people like David Duke who feel that White Anglo Saxons are Gods chosen ones.

I didn’t say for most people. I said for the worst. People like the Duggars I’m sure are rooting for the deaths of every last man, woman, and child in Palestine. This is no where near the majority of Christians.
