Words have meaning. There is no such thing as "flight" in US higher education.

"Flight" in public educational systems occurs when there is no school choice, and attendance is dictated solely by geographic neighborhood. Neither is applicable to higher education.

I don't think "white flight" is truly about race. I think it's about most young families not being able to afford homes in already developed cities, so they have to move to the "cane fields". Prairieville, Brusly, Gonzalez, Youngsville, Broussard, Central, Zachary etc. I'm guessing most of the people living in Prairieville dread that daily I-10 drive and would prefer to live in the middle of Baton Rouge. The price per square foot here is just really high. Anything that isn't high ends up needing a ton of work and updating so ends up being just as high. So all the little white families buy new construction in the new little suburban towns that have new schools too.

I wonder what neighborhood does he live in? I am sure it is a predominantly white gated neighborhood.

There's not enough information about you to determine if you're a racist but you've definitely provided enough information about yourself to know you are a hypocrite.

You preach one thing and do another. Classic hypocrite.

Already posted in thread, she also believes Jill Stein's recounts will undo the election. With the 6th's ruling though we can just add that to the list of things that Heather has gotten wrong.

I don't get it. You're saying minorities can't get an education unless white people are involved?

If people were measured on MERIT, of course whites and Asians would be overrepresented at the better schools.

I will bet everything I own that the white and Asian average test schools are better anywhere there is a large enough population of blacks and Hispanics to get a representative sample. There are not that many great black students. They each can only go to one school.

Blacks have been screwed by getting quota'd into schools they cannot succeed in.

Here is yet another documented example of white privilege. LINK

All people are NOT EQUAL. Some have talents (genetic) which lends them "privilege" over others; others are influenced (privileged) by cultural upbringing. Professional Sports PROVES this. Massive *white flight* there.

Only the implementation of Orwell's "Animal Farm" can FORCE cultural equality; and only FORCED genetic engineering or FORCED Artificial Intelligence alteration can make people equal.

And even is the above is implemented, people will still likely CHOOSE actions which consequences render them unequal. FORCED choice - I.e., no choice - is the only practical remedy for such.

Question: WHY do Whites flee? Whites worship Black sports heroes. Whites elect Black President. Whites OWN America...yet do not oppose TRUE equality (not race-based).

This is the problem re race relations. False and misguided arguments, inflaming passion, for the cause of Marxist/Egalitarian ideological advance.

Downvote.

You are dumb. Do you even know why neighborhoods are getting gentrified.
Stop using big words that you don't understand and regurgitating hack journalism.

Well, they certainly can't afford the higher prices per square foot AND the cost of private school tuition so that their kids don't get knifed at school. Seriously, EBR schools are dangerous. It's practically negligence to send your child to a public, non-select high school in BR, especially if they're white. The racism among the students and administrators is pretty jarring. I know people who have done it and others who used to teach there, and the horror stories they tell are simply appalling.

If you think rents and property values in cities are high now, they would be double what they are now if the schools were worth a damn.

You're right. Crackers need to stand their ground and not let their communities be destroyed by government-subsidized urban leech trash which happens to be predominantly made up of minorities.

White flight can be attributed to white people with common sense and an ability to mobilize getting out of areas with increasing crime. Everyone wants safety for themselves and their family, and staying in a community where the odds of them being victimized are ever-increasing is not something a lot of people (who have a choice in the matter) want to do.

They're getting gentrified because after the housing crisis, there was this large group of young, college educated whites with slim job prospects and massive student loan debt. The only jobs they could find were as low paid (if at all) internships, barista jobs, bartending, artistic persuits, and other service industry jobs. They couldn't afford cars, so they needed to live in places close to jobs and public transportation. They moved to the only places they could afford the rent, poor black neighborhoods. Those hipsters weren't drinking PBR or wearing old clothes from goodwill because they were fashionable. They were doing it because they were broke, and it was all they could afford.

One thing about young, artistic people, they will make the most of wherever they are at. They didn't just sit idle in their neighborhoods, they restored them, even the buildings they didn't own. They saved up money from their multiple part time jobs and opened businesses in abandoned store fronts. They converted blighted warehouses into microbreweries, art galleries, and music venues. They took areas no one wanted to live in and made them desireable places to live. As more moved in, crime rates dropped because young whites simply don't commit as many property crimes on average as young black males. As the rents rose, the artists moved out and the yuppies moved in now that those areas were considered more "safe".

Since the 1950s, it was typically single people or couples without kids living in apartments. Once couples started havig kids, they would move to the suburbs and buy a house where land was cheaper. However, with student loan debt and the terrible job market for 20 somethings, they're not getting married, and if they are, they're not having kids right away. So, they're living the urban, apartment life longer. If millenials ever see an economic boom which creates the first healthy job market they've seen since they got their drivers' licenses, much of these "milleninial" behaviors, which are simply the behaviors of poor but creative apartment dwellers, will disappear and they will start behaving more like previous generations in their economic decision-making.
