Chris Paul openly said he wanted a black coach after the Clippers fired Vinny Del Negro. You did not hear complaining about that.

What if a black owner was being racist against whites?
Would it be a big story? Would it be a story at all? I doubt we would hear a peep about it.
Depends on how high profile the business owner was.
If a black NBA owner came out and said blatant racist things about whites, then yes it would be a big deal just like it was when Dennis Rodman and Isaiah Thomas ripped Larry Bird for being white back in the 80s.
It if happened on the local level, no probably not.

Michael Jordan, told a mistress that he didn't want her bringing white people to games, yes, it would be a big story.
Yep. If MJ was caught on audio saying things like this it would be just as big of a deal.

"I want to play for a black coach" is VERY, VERY different from "I don't want to play for a white coach".

When Paul Ryan was being unfairly excoriated for his comments about the inner-city culture, this was a fair question.
But with this audio, these comments - do you really think this is a fair question?
Why not just condemn the comments as racist and move along? Why does this type of "what if" come up even when the case is so open-shut?

The 'what if' is from what I see as the responses of some former players reacting in likewise racists remarks and nothing being said of their open views.
These individuals are speaking openly and publicly in racist language while condemning something said privately by another party.
I do not care for racism and do not participate in it. I do not like being confronted with it either.

By different, do you mean it is different or it is viewed different?

these two correlate more than Sterling saying don't bring black folks around and assuming he is a maniacal racist.

I'm no saying it didn't happen, but does anyone have a direct quote from Paul saying that "he wanted a black coach"? Really. I haven't seen the statement and am curious.

Paul was going to the rockets if the clips didn't get a new coach. The rockets are coached by a white guy named Kevin mchale.

Give us some quotes.

Sorry, that doesn't answer my question. When and where did Paul say he wanted only to play for a black coach?

All I could find was "according to many league sources" Chris Paul wants the Clippers to hire a black coach.
There does not appear to be a direct quote.

maybe to justify his actions or play the white victim card i dunno
if a black owner or gm did this it would be news

If someone uses language that alludes to a racist idea it is no different than using a racist idea.
Sterling did not use derogatory language.
If the man did not want the lady seen with a black man alludes to racism then certainly wanting to play for a black coach would allude to racism. They both are alluding to not being with a certain color of person and playing for a certain color of person.
Folks are so hung up on color it is blinding their sight on the real deal of being brothers and sisters to get to Heaven together.
