All we have to do is go old school on them. Put a price on the head of Mr Decapitator. Ten Mill for proof of identity and dead or alive. Plus sanctuary in the US.
He won't be sleeping very well any time soon. Say 50 Mill dead or alive for the heads of ISIS and Al Qaeda. It would be less expensive than putting US boots on the ground and none of them will be alive a year from now. THIS would put the literal fear of Allah in them.

Saddam would still be in power probably with US backing today if he had left Kuwait and the Saudis be. He got greedy and it cost him everything.

Spilling more blood in the Middle East will only help their cause and grow their number. The best thing the US can do is completely detach from the region, work on becoming energy independent, and invest all that war money on defense here at home.

The simple answer is no. We could degrade their capabilities, but that's it.

Wo cares? I never understand why this matters to people. In the US we are capable of policing ourselves. Sometimes we have a religious netball kill people and when we do we hunt them down and prosecute the.
Muslims are either incapable of having a civilization or government that can police themselves or, and this is what I think, they don't care if Muslim extremist are killing western ears so they overlook it.
The answer is to start killing Muslims until the good ones, if there are any, get tired of dying and realize that the bad ones are goin to cause the to become extinct. If you have to kill 50-60 million Muslims before they get the message who cares.
The answer is to just start irradiating Muslims from the face of the earth and they will either get the message or all die and either way is a win.
It's actually pretty simple.

So you want to kill a lot of civilians in the ME...many of whom have been subjugated by ISIS? This isn't a war with a nation state with a supporting population. Your idea would very likely though rally the people of the ME to ISIS.

The way to do this is with our special forces. Give then broad left and right limits and loose ROE and emplace them with the Kurds and Iraqi military forces in Baghdad. Whatever air support they need give it to them and watch how fast this gets resolved. Push these guys back into Syria then GTFO.
As to the OP, what can the USA really do to eliminate ISIS? First, stop funding them. Second, tell the elite to go frick themselves, we're not going to do their dirty work anymore.

I could get on board with this. But you have to be 100% committed to making this work. The only way it will is if your willing to completely shutdown the illegals crossing the border. Totally change policy and round up and deport every illegal we can find. This could easily be done by cutting off any benefits or programs for illegals. No drivers license, no healthcare, nothing. This would stem the tide a lot because their would be little reason to come here.
