I just read a rundown of what actually happened. The original objection was over Warren reading Ted Kennedy's remarks on Sessions in 1986. His words were much more harsh than King's were. But the final vote when Warren objected was over the King letter. Reads like the Republicans just wanted to exert some power more than anything.
