Hate to tell you, but that would be similar item on a secondary student's standardized test.

If the test sucks make a new one. I don't see how ambiguous answers favor one race over another

That appears to be what they are doing. By modifying one of the other tests they can measure the same thing yet save $110 per teacher.

I teach freshman comp at a state u. The formal usage skills of most students, while still a level above that of community college kids, is relatively appalling. Grammar and mechanics instruction within secondary schools has been watered down to the point that many districts (and, yes, many of them predominately brown and black) have outright abandoned basic usage skills in favor of appropriating a proper writing "voice." Furthermore, things like paragraph organization and sentence syntax are largely ignored; students (yes, again, many of them brown and black) routinely substitute fragments for full sentences. I can't speak for all secondary schools and teachers, but I feel that, like the OP mentioned, grammar and basic parts of speech education is deemed unimportant because it doesn't seem pertinent to basic rhetoric skills or academic argumentation.

why should teachers be able to read or have any reading comprehension?

as long as they can teach liberal propaganda and indoctrinate students into socialism they are qualified to teach everything schools are teaching today. learning to read and write and speak proper English is only an optional course of study

If you think that question is too much, it speaks volumes about you and your kind.

There's a reason they support these actions.

Remember that these Progs are the smartest among us. Just ask them. They'll be happy to relay it to you in broken English

How about eliminating the "accountability inequality" in the family structure?

Those tests are culturally biased.

I sure the poor students who are taught by teachers who can't read will appreciate the fact that at least, they are being taught by minorities.

Sure there are race based questions. Like:
You are 5-9 and weight 149. What size bat should you use when playing cricket?

I would like a teacher to be able to answer that question.
Agree, but would like to see the passage and choice of answers. Clearly not a "literacy" test as assumed by some posters here.

Looks like basic comprehension question, one any 8th grader should be able to answer

this accusation is, in itself, redundant.

So proper English is now racist?

No wonder public schools are so terrible.
