He's optimistic that we can do what we need if necessary ("I have the forces in place to fight tonight if necessary"), and although critical of China's past actions ("China is as responsible for where North Korea is today"--not a direct quote but from the article) he is complimentary that Premier Xi is taking this issue seriously.

I think even our most competitive Adversaries (China, Russia, et al) realize that Fatboy is not good for any of our interests. As they withdraw support...the chances of a coup increase by the day.

Trump should make a public offer to any Group who wastes Fatboy, that they will be guaranteed a respected and highly profitable position in the new NK. And the history books as well. Talk about bringing the heat...

I would be surprised if such messages haven't already been conveyed, at least through the South Koreans.

I seriously can't figure out how he has not been assassinated by his own people.

The brainwashing is very strong. All media is controlled by the state. There is no internet. State media only shows propoganda that makes the regime look good. They show no other programing, not even game shows of sitcoms or fiction. People can be imprisoned, even executed for watching a Hollywood movie. Unsanctioned international phone calls come with a penalty of death. Their classrooms only display maps that make North Korea look like a massive empire and the U.S. a tiny country. If anyone so much as thinks anything less than complimentary about the regime or about life in general in that country, they murder them, their entire family, their parents, their grandparents, and their children. Besides, the only jobs that keep people fed are with the regime.

He may mean with respect to geopolitical implications and direct threat to the united states, and he may not be wrong depending on what he knows.

Unless it's done by people in the privileged circles (military, etc.), the rest of the people are too hungry and focused on sheer survival to do anything like that.

It would be like if CNN only report positive news about Clinton and ignored all the former associates that have been murdered...wait a minute!

It would be like if there was ONLY CNN, and no other media whatsover, no books, no newspapers, no radio, no other tv channels.
