Trump can’t stop shooting himself in both feet, but you’ll always be here to defend him.
What he should say is “Let each state decide what they want to do, it’s a state issue, not a federal issue.” But that would take too much work, too much thought, and too much discipline.
The abortion thing had all but played out, but he just can’t help himself, and all that he’s going to do is alienate Evangelicals.

For me this only works if it remains a state issue, but states that want to continue to allow abortion cannot allow it after 15 weeks.
Otherwise what you have effectively done is sanction abortion in all 50 states.

As usual, Trump excels at self-inflicted wounds.
Here is my position: I will veto anything related to abortion. I don't care what it is. And if the veto is overridden by Congress I won't enforce whatever they pass. This belongs with the states. It is beyond stupid to think that one federal government can come up with a policy that is fit for the nation when you have such a divisive issue and 50 states that can also work in parallel and come up with their own solutions.
