Nothing in that quote revealed a reversal. Has it been confirmed he was supportive of expanding settlements? I like this btw ...Israel should just back off a bit on laying their pecker on the middle east's shoulder.

The Israelis are knocking down Jewish Settlements even as we speak. The key phrase in the statement is:

I'm not a member of "the religious right" and I am not obsessed with Israel. I just do not hate Jews and recognize what they bring to the table as the only democratic country in the entire Middle East.

Anyone who has even a poor understanding of the history of the region could tell you that further settlement expansion may not be helpful in achieving peace in that region
