So if we have solar tech so advanced that it will not only pay for itself but pay for a huge border wall then why the need to wait for a border wall in the first place? Shouldn't we be deploying this on a massive scale with or without the border wall?

You know if the ridiculous wall is going to be built, might as well put a point to it. I approve of this.

In the end, it all comes down to incentives. In Texas, the current structure of compensating for the energy produced by solar panels incentivizes south-facing panels. However, what utilities really want are west-facing panels to hit peak demand as hard as possible. Gi

Holy Hell, dude! You just proved my point. Show me that part where they should face north again.

We could make parts of the wall jails for state and Federal prisoners, could be cheap apartments for poor people, even could be Senior Citizen/ Nursing Home type residences , welfare residences[all with the back wall being the main wall. Could be done.

You are also going to get a new road, that stretches the entire border. Going to have to have that,to bring materials/workers in. It may not be built all at once,in a linear manner, but when the wall is finished, there will be a road.

To please the Climate Change Democrats, if the oceans are really rising and threatening many cities, then go ahead and get the Corps of Engineers to dredge the canal at the border[where possible] to put the ocean water into canals to stop the Anartic ice melt and rising water like the canals built in New Orleans after the Katrina flooding. Same principle.

How do you like me now, Democrats?

Frankly pretty silly

You and the Pres have both forgot what most Dem's, Independents, Progressives and literate Republicans know by hard.... Them passing-thru Mexicans are just going to steal all them panels.

You do realize, that in The Northern Hemisphere, A solar panel will gather more Sunlight on the longest days, if it is facing slightly northward? Get outside a little bit.

I bet i know who you voted for.

I guess you didn't notice, that was talking about the Austin area, which is a looong way north of the border ,and considerably shorter summer. Geographical position on Earth has everything to do with the angle of the sun and stars, and also the length of daylight hours. For instance: Today I woke up in Detroit Michigan,it was getting daylight at 4:30am Eastern time,it wasn't completely dark until almost 10Pm.This time of year, the farther north you go, the longer the days are, because of the tilt of The Earth,in relation to The Sun.
Have you never noticed the difference while driving West to East? Winter vs. Summer?

Well, since I know how the Earth Tilts on it's axis, and has been doing pretty much the same thing for my entire life, causing all of the seasons to be completely opposite in both hemispheres, and am outside working, everyday, seeing The Sun seemingly move around in the sky, pretty damn predictably, depending on where I am that day. I voted for Trump.
I don't need any agency to tell me where the sunshine comes from, I know, because I have to move my sunvisor around to block it out of my eyes.
All of the agencies said that having an automatic transmission in my new truck, would save me a lot on fuel too, funny,My mileage is down about 13%,how could all of those geniuses be wrong? I must be doing the math wrong huh?
Believing all the experts will frick you up,because they probably have ulterior motives to mislead you.
Pay attention to things and use your own brain. You will screw up and mis-figure sometimes, but you will learn from that also.

Look...one last lime. In the northern hemisphere at or above the 25th parallel, only the pitch of the panel is effected by latitude, not orientation. I can only give you the facts. I can't make you understand them. The Earth's tilt right now is only 23.5 degrees. It would have to be 45 degrees or greater for what you're proposing and then that would only work at latitudes 45N and above. The border is from 22N to 25N.

The end.

WTF?

Actually for peak shedding the data is starting to suggest that it is better to face them to the west........because the cost of commercial power is higher from mid day though the evening than it is in the morning and facing them west instead of south or ws allows them to collect more later in the day when rates are highest.....

North is never a good idea in the northern hemisphere.....
