President Trump in an interview published Thursday said he invented the phrase "priming the pump," a common saying used in economics. "Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven't heard it. I mean, I just ... I came up with it a couple of days ago and I thought it was good. It's what you have to do," Trump said during an interview with editors for The Economist.

LMAO at our president

An entire article, and ensuing melt, based on two sentences from Trump. You and your ilk are in for a long 7.5 years.

Is this one of those things where Trump is making a joke and the political media are taking him incredibly literally to try and make an issue? Given your history of posting stupid things, I'm going to have to assume it is unless someone more reputable can add some context.

The saddest part is he went off on that tangent when the interviewer brought up Keynesian economics. Trump clearly had no idea what that was.

Don't know if he's serious, but my dad said that for years. Of course, we had a water pump at the camp that you had to prime all the time...lol!

Where does he say in your quotes portion he "invented" it? You're so intellectually dishonest it's sickening.

It reads like he's talking off the cuff and not affirmatively saying it's absolutely never been used before. Get a life, Jesus.

That's some pussy shite, right there.

You troll and post stupid things routinely, then get upset when people feel they can't trust the veracity of the things you post. Maybe you should think about that before constantly posting stupid things over the course of a decade.

he invented the pump

so it's natural that he would have been the first to use the phrase

but beyond that it’s OK if the tax plan increases the deficit?
It is OK, because it won’t increase it for long. You may have two years where you’ll…you understand the expression “prime the pump”?
Yes.
We have to prime the pump.
It’s very Keynesian.
We’re the highest-taxed nation in the world. Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?
Priming the pump?
Yeah, have you heard it?
Yes.
Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven’t heard it. I mean, I just…I came up with it a couple of days ago and I thought it was good. It’s what you have to do.

By the way he did not just use it a few days ago. He is on record using it in December.

Do you actually tell people in real life how ridiculous you are on this message board? What does it sound like when you say it out loud?

He's created so many catchphrases over the past 2 years that it's irrelevant.

From your own fricking quote:
quote:

Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?

And I've got to admit, I've never before heard that expression used in this context before.
