1. Too expensive
2. Feeds in to an already death loving culture/society ('Merica)
3. Is not a deterrent to crime
4. Its victims are primarily the poor
5. Innocent people have been and will continue to be executed

Name an innocent person who's been executed.

The death penalty hasn't really been tried. And yet some analysis still shows a deterrent effect.

I agree that, like many other things the govt does, the DP is good in principle but poorly executed (pun intended).

Tonight Texas killed a woman because she tortured and starved a 9 year old boy to death.

If it cost a little more to kill her versus feed and support her for the next 40 years, I'm ok with that.

Being poor doesn't give you a pass to commit heinous crimes.

There's alot of data out there on how socioeconomics, race, etc have a role in deciding whether DP will be pursued in those individuals already found guilty.

Just a local example.

Dig into the shite Derrick Todd Lee did to I think Charlotte Pace. The one that was located at Sharlo.

Something like 65 knife/screw driver punctures while she fought for her life.

You expect tax payers to pay for his jailing for 50 more years? Man frick that shite.

I think it can be reformed a little. Perhaps only applying the dp in airtight cases with a confession, eye witness, or perfect DNA match. In exchange, the guilty party would be limited to one appeal and the sentence would be carried out in no more than 2 years following the original verdict.

Or we could perfect out ability to make correct determinations of guilt.

This is an impossibility.

The possibility of human error always exists.

Honestly, you have to be a pretty sick frick to be pro death penalty.

I'm good with that. Why do air tight cases need 10 years of appeals? It's appalling we pay for that shite.

No civilized society should be executing its own citizens. It's not surprising that a country that revels in violence and death like America would kill in the name of justice. But it pains me to say the Japan, my home, has the DP as well, although it's rarely used.

Mercy and Compassion are what we need in the world.

I think the dp sshould be done away with but the logic string of no civilized nation blah blah blah is a terrible one.

I say no civilized nation should have fish as pets. How barbaric.

Interesting case. But he's not conclusively innocent. There's some recent doubts about it. I'm asking for a 100% certain innocent person executed. Completely exonerated posthumously.

There have been many. There are many sites where you can find the info.

To believe that we have never put someone to death in this country for a crime they did not commit would be pure stupidity.
