When CEO pay is skyrocketing and worker pay is effectively shrinking due to inflation you get this.

CEO pay has almost certainly nothing to do with what people in any given company get paid. It's a red herring for non-thinking, easily incited people.

For example, Wal-Mart is the biggest company in the US. The CEO makes $24 million and change. You can Google that and discover that (gasp) the CEO makes 933 TIMES the median Wal-Mart employee salary.

But then you realize that Wal-Mart has 2.3 million employees. So if you took the CEO's entire salary and divided it equally among every Wal-Mart employee, they'd get an extra $10 and change a year.

It has virtually nothing to do with what employees get paid. It's just an easy stick to stir shite with to incite dullards.

These corporations have all said that price increases were a result of inflation, surely when inflation reduces in the future prices will drop accordingly, right?

No, idiot, because reduced inflation in the future doesn't reduce the effects of the inflation that came before it.

Inflation itself never "reduces." The rate of inflation decreases.

If you are doing something that is aging your body prematurely (cigarettes, drugs, whatever) and you stop doing it, you don't get younger. You just slow down your rate of aging.

We should be encouraging more mom and pop style small business around blue collar work. This is how you avoid talk of unionization as well as corporate machines. Make it easier for people to start business.

I think pretty much everyone can agree on that. They problem is we don't enforce antitrust laws and have allowed extreme consolidation in nearly every industry. But with the Citizens United ruling, monopolies are a bigger problem than at any point in our country's history. Because now corporate money is considered free speech. Which has led to the corporate oligarchy you see today.

What makes you say this? Data shows that millennials are earning significantly less than than their parents did.

Millennials earn 20% less than baby boomers did—despite being better educated

Let me guess, it’s because no millennials want to work, right?

You couldn’t be more wrong.

But when people look up and see Jeff Bezos building yachts so fricking big you have to move a bridge to get them to sea while people can’t afford to buy a basic starter house they know something isn’t right.

You simply cannot deny that in a relatively short period of time the average American is worse off financially that they were just 35 or so years ago.

Record profits. Record C-Suite pay and bonuses. Stagnate wages for everyone else. Higher priced goods for everyone else.

There are more millennials. More competition for higher paying jobs. More competition for lower wages with the influx of illegals too.

The jobs we are adding are government jobs and service industry. Service industry pay is shite.

Also, being more educated doesnt mean you are educated in something useful to society. If you got your masters in African poetry, are you really more educated than your parents?

$20 minimum wage is record minimum wages.

Also would assume we have approached record average wages all across the country.

and then there is this..

quote:

35 to 44 years old $1,223 $63,596 $30.58
45 to 54 years old $1,239 $64,428 $30.98
55 to 64 years old $1,218 $63,336 $30.45
65 years and older $1,042 $54,184 $26.05

So the average wage for mil is more than boomers.

so the reason millennials are earning significantly less is because there are too many millennials?

yes. If your parents don’t have a masters degree, and you do, that is the definition of being more educated than your parents.

Not enough high-paying jobs, so yes.

More educated in African poetry but can't balance a checkbook.

How do you know?

It could also be because checkbooks are practically obsolete for most people and have been for at least 15 years.

Largely against unions, but I'm fully aware that corporations will screw over their employees before anything else.

If there were zero unions anywhere, I'm certain workers' wages would be significantly less across the board of union and non union members.

The bottom line becomes money and nothing else.

They are asking for 40% pay increases on a 20% shorter work week. And they already make 18% more than non union workers doing the exact same job without complaint. So I guess we agree. It is about money and nothing else.

My primary concern with public sector unions is the economic bargaining.

Everyone at the table is playing with other people's money and the other people are not at the table. This creates a moral hazard with public money.

In the private sector union you have adult workers risking a job and adult business owners risking its money/business. They all have a serious stake.
