Read up on how gay marriage moved through the Massachusetts state legislature.

Literally the only reason for somebody to oppose gay marriage is because of religious beliefs.
Well, that's a bit stunted.

Are you serious? Are you claiming every judge or judicial panel in history has been fair and correct in regards to the Constitution?

Demonize religion in a totally secular thread

Gay activists, do you not understand the implications of this? You are forcing social change through surreptitious legislation on a population that doesn't want it,
Given the lack of outrage by the general public, it's clear that most people don't give a shite.

What is a reason for opposition to equal rights that DOESN'T stem from religion. I'm drawing a blank but am totally willing to reconsider.

Mississippi and LA didn't want interracial marriage to be legal by wide majorities.

I couldn't really care less about the gay struggle, but I've been around long enough to know that you have no idea what you're talking about.

How do you know there isn't a public outcry? This is based on what? The media?

The sociological idea that marriage is for the propagation of humanity.

So you're against a straight couple in their late 40's or older getting married? How about a woman who is barren and her husband-to-be doesn't care for children and still wishes to marry her?

Where are the mass demonstrations? Where are the politicians using this as a wedge issue? Hell, even on this board, it's been mostly met with a ho hum. Either the public sentiment has changed in the relatively short time since these laws were passed, or the support for them was extremely shallow to begin with.

It's this. Look at the marijuana and gay marriage polls that I posted on the previous page. More traction has been made on the "pro" side of these issues in the past 10 years than in the 30 years prior. In another 10 years the pro-pot and pro-gay marriage numbers will be an undeniable majority in America.
As more and more Americans get to know a nephew or cousin or grandchild who is openly homosexual, as more and more Americans see the issue addressed in popular culture, the "ick" factor gets washed away.

Some cars are put in museums. Others sit on blocks. Some go to the junkyards. That doesn't change why cars are built.

Are you people capable of rational discussion? Why is every damn comment have to relegate the opposition as inferior? The gay marriage activists are literally the only ones ITT mentioning religion or ickiness. It does not advance the discussion, only serves to show your bigotry and contempt for the opposition.

By Majority you mean the old homophobes whose assbackwards thinking is being pushed out of society.
Yeah it's a good thing.
Until you're one of the old farts standing in the way. Good luck then, a-hole.

Look, another hateful reductionist remark from the gay agenda.

Maybe it's like voting for Obama. Everyone wants to show how cool and tolerant they are. No clue or care of the consequences.

Demographically, you are on the wrong side of history, genro. As are the rest of the social conservatards in this country.
