Russia is in the early stages of "blowback" the longer this thing goes. They already lost 1 ambassador and a plane full of civilians, not that Putin gives a shite about them.
Much better Russians than Americans....I hate that innocent people are being killed but frick 'em...the ignorant fricks shouldn't have went to the mosque the second time...I tried the catholic church once and knew within a few minutes those bastards were crazy....the entire region can become southern Russia for all I care....we have oil here and Russia would have to sale that shite anyway and I for one would rather buy it from Russians who at least think somewhat like Europeans and not altogether like Asians than I would Arabs....

fricking Mongols had to go and ruin the middle east. The sack of baghdad was the turning point of the whole area. Ever since then it has been complete shite
For the downvoter... The siege of baghdad resulted in the biggest literary and scientific loss second only to the loss of the library at alexandria. Before the Mongols invaded and sacked the city it was a scientific and literary haven. Hundreds of miles of canals helped keep the area fertile. The destruction laid down by the Mongols was something the Region has yet to recover from and probably never will. You're ignorance of history is showing.

quote:No, Assad is not a good guy. But he's a secular strongman/dictator who can keep things in line, which is required in certain parts of the world.
wait. so Assad is the GOOD guy in all of this?
And as such, it's pretty easy to know his motivations and angles, and deal with him accordingly.
quote:Probably at least 50% of the people there want to kill Israelis, each other, infidel Westerners (especially Americans), and generally devolve into lawlessness and/or a religious zealotry.
who do the people of Syria support?
Assad prevents this.

Your thinking of an end executed by a divine being. What they are referring to is "they want to end and rid the world of infidels", i.e., non-Mohammadist.

There's a huge civil war going on in Syria between the government and 3-4 differing rebel factions.
And pretty much every side involved is horrible.
And Aleppo is sort of the epicenter of all the warfare as it's a major city where many of the groups territories brush up against each other.
