So Yesterday I Listened To NPR Discuss The Violent Protestors At Berkeley

This is the end of the discussion where the NPR host and a LA Times reporter were discussing the violence by protestors called the Black Bloc at Berkeley over Milo's speaking event:
MCEVERS: I mean, what do researchers say about this - right? - about overall - over the long term the effectiveness of violent versus nonviolent protest?
ST JOHN: There has been research that this backfires, that this actually makes a movement look bad or, you know, cast a pall upon the larger body of the demonstration.
MCEVERS: Or brings about more violence in the form of a crackdown from the government, as we saw in the Arab Spring.
ST JOHN: Exactly. It begets that. It also brings out others on the other side who are equally violent. And you saw that in Sacramento this June when a white nationalist rally brought out the Black Bloc. It also brought out neo-Nazis. And then in the conflict we have five people stabbed. But members of the Black Bloc - and this is one commonality that I heard as well - many of them spoke about hearing from their parents and grandparents and family history about oppression. One woman's grandparents, you know, still talk a lot about the Holocaust. And there's a thought that they echoed about what they would have done in those times during the rise of the Nazis in Germany or oppression of African-Americans in the '60s. And so I think that they're living those historic moments in their own actions today.
MCEVERS: Paige St. John is an investigative reporter with the LA Times. Thank you very much.
ST JOHN: You're welcome.
Disgusting.

Didn't we always know that if the current leftistas didn't get their way they would turn to violence? I mean they are assholes in the best of times - much less when things aren't going their snowflake way.

Holy shite.

I've seen a few "so I randomly listened to NPR" threads. Y'all sit around and listen to libtard jargon, watch CNN, and just piss yourselves off to come here and vent about it. Stop watching that stupid shite.

Yea.
It's unbelievable but there it is.

I understand what you are saying but when a mainstream news outlet, especially one supported by tax dollars, makes a message like the one above then people need to see it in all of its absurdity.

Some on this board think NPR is unbiased.

I mean they are a-holes in the best of times - much less when things aren't going their snowflake way.
Pop Quiz: Name 1 liberal that takes a civil and rational point of view? I thought so...

I listen to NPR in the car on the way to and from work. They don't even make an attempt to hide their ridiculous bias. Nonetheless, i enjoy hearing from leftists, no matter how fricked up their views are.
I would rather know my enemy and hear their thoughts and views in their original context, rather than hear about it through the filter of a conservative news outlet.
That being said, i wouldnt be in the least bit upset if they lost their funding.

quote:To their credit, they produce a masterful product - train whistles in the background, chirping birds, kids on playgrounds. They are adept at altering reality using only the radio. They paint seductive mental pictures. They'll disarm you - then go in for the kill. Terry Gross is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Just the title is alluring: "Fresh Air". Now how can that be harmful?

Milo is a provacteur ....his job is to insult and badger people to get a rise out of them. What about this do none of you understand? I bet almost everyone of you agrees that an armed society is a polite society.....because in an armed society when someone is impolite violence is expected if not acceptable.
I truly do not understand the huge number of what one would assume are southern men (we are on a board that is mostly LSU football, right?) who are shocked that people will, when insulted, resort to violence....that is about as basic a tenet of chivalry as there is....if someone insults you, your woman, your truck or you dog that someone is running the risk of getting thumped on the head. Yet when other people do it y'all are shocked?
So, a man approaches your teen aged daughter in the aisle at WalMart and starts talking about how fat and ugly she is....regardless of if she is fat or ugly....you just walk away and ignore that person? I don't......and I am an old man and liberal to boot....bet me and old dude are going to at least have words and if he ain't apologizing we are going to be rolling around on the floor of WalMart like the assholes we are....and I would bet that most of you would act in a similar fashion....but thst person has the right to say anything about my daughter that he wishes to say....my taking umbrage with it is merely my taking umbrage with his right to free speech....Milo is simply the dude calling your daughter fat....on a much larger and grander scale....and the riots in berkeley were just a bunch of assholes rolling around on the floor of a WalMart store....
So it comes down to where a person has the right to sat anything the please...I wouldn't put up with the dude from walmart standing on the sidewalk in front of my house calling my daughter a whore....I would eventually take matters into my own hands...as would anyone. Again, he has the right to be on the sidewalk and he has the right to say what he chooses but he also should know that he doesn't have a right not to get that arse whupped....he may have the right to see his attacker in jail for having whupped that arse but that doesn't mean that his arse wasn't whupped.....
Milo has the right to say anything he damn well pleases and people should not react violently....but people will. This has nothing at all, by the way, with Donald Trump or politics....this shite has been going on for a while. Combining these riots with protests against Trump and Trump actions is simply a way to marginalize Trump protestors.
Finally if the press reported what Milo was saying that invoked these kinds of reactions there is only a small number of people in the US who wouldn't say that he had an arse whupping coming. They would do just that if someone said the shite he says to their daughter in walmart....

German frog/no one should read that shite/ dv

You should post the beginning of the story where the reporter suggests the riots during the inauguration were staged by Trump. I was floored.

Give it a rest, man.
Face it. For years, people on the left have been able spew some of the most hateful, racist crap you can think of, yet they were almost never met with violence from the right.
Suddenly, some folks on the right turn the tables, and the inherently violent libs do what they do. Please stop trying to justify the violence, the tantrums and downright despicable behavior.
The worst thing for people like Milo is to ignore them. They feed off of the adverse reactions. They thrive on them. Have them speak to a few empty auditoriums, and they will vanish. Don't protest. Don't send news crews. Don't make them the focus of social media posts.
Ignore them, and you will accomplish your goals.

Stop branding NPR as liberal leaning. You're annoying NPR host Ira Glass...
quote:
As somebody who works in public radio, it is killing me that people on the right are going around trying to basically rebrand us, saying that it’s biased news, it’s – it’s, you know, it’s left wing news, when I feel like anybody who listens to the shows knows that it’s not. And we are not fighting back. We’re not saying anything back. I find it completely annoying and I don’t understand it.

Stop watching or LISTENING to that stupid shite.
Overnight, literally overnight, if they were ignored they would change their rhetoric to survive. No donations - no support, call for Congress to defund their grants, problem solved.
The President will eventually fix this too

Of course Ira believes that. Doesn't change the fact that npr swings left now.

I don't have any goals...I actually think Milo is hilarious...about as good a comedian as there is working today....I think he should say whatever he wants whenever he wants and damn the consequences....but he shouldn't feign surprise when the father of an insulted daughter whups his arse....
