You mean something similar to the increase in "colleges" we saw?

Yes. All insurance plans must turn a profit in order to remain solvent. Even the government would have to do the same.

If a plan isn't profitable you must raise revenue. If it's profitable, the gov't in your world would not need to charge more. If it's running at a deficit (not profitable) then it would have to increase revenue/charge more.

Can you see that?

Healthcare ins CEOs make six figures a DAY you idiot.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with the price. Sad!

It has very little to do with price.

I can show you that it has little to do with price but it's going to expose your ignorance. You want to go there? If you do, you have to participate with me so we can overcome your ignorance together. I'm going to teach a man to fish but not hand him a fish.

Not necessarily. If and established company that already has capital enters the market they could hold their own, especially if said company has a brand name.

Mark Bertolini's salary isn't even a value worth measuring as a rate of total revenue for Aetna.

Try again.

Yes I see that, but you are ignoring the possibilities of other competitors entering the market, the possibility of being able to sell across borders with no restrictions, possibly more funding for medical schools and so forth. Other variables are at play here to counter increase in price. Also, if we fund education properly we would be able to see a surge in good medical professionals in the next 20-30 years. This will also reduce cost long term

couldn't we fund a single payer system with the money we keep?

No....

We could also do a whole lot more to improve OUR country with that money, but this would be a great start

Single payer would destroy our country and give more power to the federal government. Very stupid idea.

I think we are on two different roads but that's OK.

Do you know who has a large say in the number of doctors that graduate?

Whatever budget # they come up with, quadruple it. Whatever level of care they claim will be available, cut it in half and pray you get that.

The US fed gov is incapable of running something like healthcare. Capitalism has created the greatest healthcare system in the world. Single payer would decimate it.
