And please explain to me what is untrue about that flyer?

In regard to the flyer:

quote:

Voted against MS Civil Rights Museum

Context please? Did he vote against it because he thought there were more pressing budget priorities? Did he vote against it because he thinks museums are the role of the private sector? Did he vote against it because he hates black people? That's an incendiary bullet point to throw out there without providing context.

quote:

Opposes federal funding of public schools

As I recall, this stems from McDaniel saying he is against the Department of Education (which BTW, doesn't necessarily tell me that he's against federal funding, just that he's against a massive bureaucracy). Which is the same position Reagan took and is the same position Newt Gingrich took in 1994.

Essentially, Cochran attacked McDaniel for taking the same position Reagan took while implying he hates black people for taking the position. It's fair to ask then whether Cochran is anti-Reagan.

quote:

Nursing Home Photo Scandal

If McDaniel was taken into a court of law to determine whether he knew about this, the prosecution's case would be laughed out of court. Circumstantial tie at best.

quote:

Made racist comments on his radio show

This is where we delve into the realm of fiction. What racist comments? If he actually made racist comments, I presume they would have been used against him.

quote:

Opposes SNAP funding in Farm Bill

A position that most Republicans took.

I think it's awesome that we have a situation where Cochran reaches out to democrats to vote in the Republican primary...by unfairly painting his opponent as a racist...and the libs can't figure out what he did wrong.

Hell, most of the Republicans can't figure out what he did wrong.

Seems a little disingenuous for the guy who promoted Operation Chaos to be outraged by D interference in an R primary. Especially when that interference was openly invited by the R establishment.

"frick You" is such an elegant response from you. Since we are cutting to the chase, it looks to me that you are "white Citizens Council" material. What we used to call High Class Klan"

Seriously? Everything that He accused Cochran of supporting that was distasteful was cloaked in an omnibus bill. If he voted against it, he would have been accused of voting against Keesler or VA funding or such. So hypocritical of you.

You sure like playing the race card. Are you sure you're an Ole Miss fan?

Also, nothing you said in that post disproves any line item on the flyer.

Oh my god, the melt from this is better than expected.

Perhaps if the Tea Party and friends could find decent candidates this cycle, they would win some of these races. Thad was low hanging fruit and they blew it.

Rush, Glenn Beck, and the Erick Erickson's of the world will stomp their feet about it for a couple of weeks and will move on. Thad will end up getting 54 or 55% in November.

Regarding the flyer: Has it been proven it even came from Cochran? The idea very well may have come from his campaign - maybe even Cochran himself, but this sort of stuff happens all the time. A campaign consultant will ask somebody else to print and distribute - so the candidate can deny any knowledge....kind of like the nursing home photo. If you can't tie it to Cochran, there's really no point in arguing it.

Even if you can, legally were any of those statements untrue? A lawyer could easily argue they were. Again, this is all politics 101.

It's interesting that you can't figure what Cochran did that was "wrong". It says a lot about you.

I'll try. You want some pussy but the wife is mad at you at the time so she doesn't fulfill your desire. You go to another source to fulfill your desire. You have done nothing legally wrong, can't be arrested for what you did. However, what you did is wrong according to the vast majority of people (no link but 62 years of being observant to other people's opinions). It's not the fact you got some pussy (won the election) it's how you attained it.

Question is , will it come back to bite you in the arse?

That's the best I got for you aw.

There is a huge difference between "wrong" and "illegal." You seem to be conflating the two.

I would like for the same laws that limit what a company can say in an advertisement apply to what a politician can say in a campaign.

I think it should be an automatic and immediate disqualification to knowingly present untrue - or grossly misleading - bullshite in a political ad.

I am all about unvarnished truth and logic in politics, and totally against emotion and fads in selecting the leaders of the town, state, nation. = which explains why I am so disillusioned with everything that has transpired in the past 60 years of my attention.

Yeah - this is the over-arching need in this next election.

I hate to say it but I want Cochran to win the general election (then censure his arse or shun him) just to win the war against smarmy DEM domination of the Senate. That is the mission of the next election cycle - take the Senate.

It would be like on D-Day - our mission is to establish a beachhead to take down the 3rd Reich. But dammit some PFC said an ugly word to a French whore, so let's just get back on the f'n ships and go home. We are not worthy of saving the world.

dammit - we had a real chance, but we are not 100% pure so we deserve to let the 100% evil-doers have control.

This is basically what George Will said the other day. He said the old saying "politics are local" that everyone likes to use doesn't apply to today's politics. He said it's about national politics.
