Yeah, the fact checking in this article was awesome. I believe none of the story since they took zero time to try to confirm anything.

This is the response I expect here.

My guess is those 40,000 will be registered, but not in time to vote in this election.

It is in the court system so the results will be telling and the state officials appear to have pretty much accomplished their goal of enough delaying at this point.

THEY CAN VOTE IN THIS ELECTION, REGARDLESS!

Well that will upset the alarmists that until this thread said voter fraud didn't exist.

Why do you even argue. They don't even accept facts.

Poor effort. Here is the rest of that paragraph.

quote:

any voter unsure of their registration status can always cast a provisional ballot. Those who do so must return within three days to present additional documentation or otherwise cure any problem with the system. But the NAACP and New Georgia Project called this remedy “unacceptable.”

“I cannot tell you what little return we actually see in terms of provisional ballots,” Johnson said. “The election is decided the night of the election. It’s not really a ballot at all.”

Even if every one of the registrations in limbo does get processed and added to the voter rolls by Election Day, Johnson says the uncertainty has still been “problematic.” Because the 40,000-odd voters have not yet received their registration cards in the mail that tells them which precinct they’re assigned to, “this ambiguity may discourage people from going to out to vote, and those who do go won’t know where to go, and they’ll be shuffled around from polling place to polling place.”

A vote is a vote. There is no fraud at all. Every single one of those supposed 40,000 can vote, and if they do, their vote will be counted. Where is the fraud?

Was Johnson planning to send in "surrogates" to cast those newly registered ballots which were very unlikely to be cast otherwise?
Is that the real beef?

A bolded quote from the NAACP guy crying "not good enough." Meanwhile, it is literally and legally the exact same thing.

Compelling rebuttal.

This.
But they sure as heck count it. Sad really but everyone knows that is how dems win contests.

This is why there should not be any third party voter registration drives allow. People should have to register to vote with a government agency.

So making it more difficult and making people return more than once to do the same thing within three 3 days with additional information, information they already provided once or some other kind of information will not discourage people.

frick man, you know it will. Quit being an obtuse jackass.

FWIW, this particular drive was organized by a tax-exempt nonprofit, as they are ostensibly non-partisan.

I normally respect your opinion. But you know it will accomplish the mission to keep the votes from counting as people that have never voted before made the effort to register, show up and vote, then are told their vote won't count unless they turn around and come back and jump through another hoop?

Sorry, man, this is why I don't spend much time on this board. Stupid spin like this.

Sorry TT9, I posted the article but this place is a waste of time.

Heaven forbid should an avalanche of new voters be subjected to proper scrutiny.

Don't worry, I'm sure the Dems will find enough dead people to vote and others to vote multiple times as usual to make up for this.

Sorry to hear it. I'm not sure if I respect yours or not. You strike me as knowing better than most of the shite you say here. Even the things you say containing grains of validity are wrapped in inflammatory garbage, Krugman-style.

This included.

quote:

made the effort to register, show up and vote

Actually the "effort to register" was done by nonprofit workers, subsidized by my tax dollars. I myself had to exert affirmative effort to get registered-not these folks. I therefore consider this a wash.

Nothing in this thread is more disingenuous than the heroic, self-important championing of the "rights" of people that those people themselves have elected through laziness not to exercise, DESPITE NO OPPOSITION.

None. It is exactly as easy for them to register as it was for me. Oh wait, no, it's easier.
