To be fair, I tried that early on. It was relatively fruitless.

I am an asshat sometimes, and she definitely provoked that response. Besides, I firmly believe most posters that claim to be female are actually lonely males.

If their gaffs weren't buried on the back of page 10, I might have.

Always?

They aren't close to being as good at it as liberalism's professional victims.

Nah.

Even if you don't agree with his views, you should respect him for speaking his mind publicly.

The fact that there was backlash from people believing he actually wanted to kill everybody he couldn't convert to Christianity makes it sound like there's a bunch of christaphobic morons running around.

Doesn't agree with gays or radical Muslims = homophobic psychotic moron in today's world

Why'd it need clarification?

Because his comments, as ridiculous as they often are, create discussion such as this thread. Hannity knows that when he brings him on. Plus, he pisses off the other side.

Now, the discussion it generates is rarely beneficial, but they don't care as long as it creates some buzz.

Because people cannot comprehend comments that were fairly obvious. FWIW i would have much rathered Phil worded his original comments differently. I don't have a problem with him saying they need a change of heart and they need to stop murdering people or we will fight and kill them. When he brought up the convert or die part, it became a headline grabber even if that's not what the statements actually meant. But again it's hard to determine that if you're as biased as some people are around here.

gthog61, Robertson didn't need to clarify his original comment for most of us, but some left-wing loons like asugif tried to imply that he was saying the same thing as ISIS.

That wad insane, of course, but I'm glad he didn't let the left get away with espousing their false narrative. If only Mitt Romney had learned to fight back like this........

You know, I watched the original segment and I don't think it's all that unreasonable to think he meant converting to Christianity. He had a Bible with him and quoted scripture a few times. His intent was rather ambiguous to me, but I don't fault anyone for interpreting it their own way as it was open to interpretation.

It would have been nice if the host would have asked a follow up question about clarification.

Well, Robertson freely admits that he tries to convert people to Christianity.

The difference?

When Robertson is unsuccessful, he tells the person to have a good day and walks away.

ISIS will kill you.

That's the difference.

he's backtracking after he made his original comments. doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

But you told us all he would "admit it" if asked. So your judgment of him is clearly questionable. You even agreed that logically such a comment would indicate that the speaker wouldn't have been referring to conversion to Christianity, but that since it was Phil Robertson, that is what changed the meaning in your mind. You're such a hack.

And again, I'm agnostic and don't even particularly like Phil Robertson.

He was talking about ISIS, dude.

Seriously, do you really think he wants to kill peace-loving non-Christians?

If you really believe that you're insane. The man is pushing 70. When is he going to start killing non-Christians?

Phil said that his comment was meant to convey the idea that ISIS members either need to have a change of heart and stop committing acts of violence and terrorism, or else there's really only one alternative. Fight them and kill them.

Making the argument that you don't agree that we should fight them is one thing. But you misrepresented what he said and then feigned outrage over him demanding people convert to Christianity or be killed. You are nothing more than a dishonest hack who is now deflecting to distract people from how much of an arse you made of yourself.
