This is why so many worthless attorneys get degrees.
The schools figure the Bar Exam will weed them out, which worked until they retooled the La. Bar Exam a few years ago.

1500 hours of required cosmetology courses so you can braid hair? Seriously?

We operated under the Constitution for 98 years before the first Bar Exam.
You mean during the time of slavery? So you believe that the way we did things back then should be the same?
What a dumb frick.

And then there is the case of Dr. Chavous, the black guy who was admitted to med school with much lower scores than Bakke (who was rejected because he's white). Chavous soon lost his license when he killed a woman while doing liposuction. Friggin' liposuction. That's like 'Did ya here about poor Bob? He went to the dentist to get a cavity filled. Killed him.'

I would venture to say anyone in the top 20 or so percentile intelligence-wise, with a college degree, would have a decent shot to pass a bar exam with two months of intensive study.
3 years of material in 60 days? Not easy.
What they did before they changed the format was teach what had been on prior exams, that wont work anymore.

I have no doubt that if they'd give me a couple of months to prepare, I could pass the bar.

I believe those are State standards.

It is overkill for Cosmetology, but they are under the Department of Health. You're dealing with skin, hair, nails, etc. Infectious disease and whatnot.

Actually in Texas they are under Licensing and Regulation.
I agree having training in health and safety practices should be done whenever you're touching another person (Cosmetology, Massage), but that doesn't require 1500 hours.
And now there's a trend to require cosmetologists to take courses in how to spot domestic violence. Because it is believed that people will share things with their stylist that they won't share with someone else. Mandatory CE. (Of course my cosmetologist stepdaughter likes this idea--she also liked Bernie Sanders' idea of free college too)

Do you have proof of this legacy conspiracy? Because the admission stats don't reflect your claim. If a bunch of unqualified whites were getting let in, the stats would show it.
Hint: they don't!

Without law school? No way.
I knew a couple people that failed, one was law review and in all cases it was a result of a failure to prepare, which is a check in the negative column for a future lawyer.

That's my point. That's all the bar exam is really.

But I forgot, any chance to play up racial stereotypes and castes supersedes principles when it comes to some conservatives politics.
Like saying black people aren't smart enough to pass the bar so we need to do away with it?

Actually, Abignale studied for about 3 weeks and passed it. A source of much consternation for the LA Bar Association.
Posted on 9/11/17 at 10:07 am to Y.A. Tittle
Yeah, I understood and agreed with that point but don't believe you could pull it off without law school.

What was once considered a noble profession is slowly being reduced to the level of respect which a Chinese dry wall salesman receives.
And they're doing it to themselves.

It's not even a test that's meant to fail you. It's meant to assess basic competency to practice law. Think a "C" grade or higher. Admitting people who can't pass the bar would dishonor the profession and increase malpractice.
