The licensing exams should be assessing a minimum acceptable standard of competence for the profession. I don't think people can just hate on test just because the specific topics may not be their strong point.

Also, a workforce with a diverse skill set could be advantageous.
A diverse skill set? You mean people who aren't adept at the SKILL for which they are supposed to be working?
I don't get what this point means in the context of this particular discussion.

Um the Constitution itself gives the government the right to dictate who can and can not be a lawyer, How can the government ensure that people are getting adequate legal counsel without some sort of "exam" to make sure people are qualified to practice?
In truth, I wish more industries had exams. For example, here in AR anyone can hang up a sign and say "I'm a car mechanic now" and it is pathetic how many people get ripped off by shady assholes who don't know anything about cars.....

Imagine if a white dude walked into an NAACP meeting and said this.

person could probably study for 3-4 months with the barbri materials and other sources (i'm assuming you have access to all summaries/guides + the internet as your sources)
I've had multiple doctors tell me my iq is 180+ so this should be a breeze for me

I sincerely agree that The admission should be based on applicant's color of skin not score of merit.

The bar exam was designed and continues to operate as a mechanism for excluding the lower classes from participation in the legal services market. Elizabeth Olson of The New York Times reports that the bar exam as a professional standard “is facing a new round of scrutiny—not just from the test takers but from law school deans and some state legal establishments.” This is a welcome development. The dean of the University of San Diego School of Law, Stephen C. Ferruolo, complained to the Times that the bar exam “is an unpredictable and unacceptable impediment for accessibility to the legal profession.” He is right: The bar exam is a barrier to entry, a form of occupational licensure that restricts access to a particular vocation and reduces market competition.

Book it...this is across the board; especially in the Government Bureaucracy. It is essentially why the (Progressive) Government has taken over the College loan powers; they can empower Colleges to be 'diploma mills' and fill the 'deep state' Bureaucracy with Prog Ideologues.
What was it the Commies said..."give me the College Professors and you can have the Army" (or something like that).
It's a mess; heading for a showdown.

im guessing getting in licensed to practice physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, etc will now be labeled racist as well.

I have no doubt that if they'd give me a couple of months to prepare, I could pass the bar. Hell, maybe less than that - didn't Frank Abginale study for only a week and still pass it?
"The bar exam and Ranger School are easy. just give me two weeks to prepare."

i do not disagree that white people are doing this too, but the question is why we're OK with institutional discrimination against one minority group to help other minority groups? that is legitimate institutional racism that you're defending
Because Asians are not as violent as others, and they will EARN their right of equal opportunity when they start burning down the streets and robbing houses.

I would venture to say anyone in the top 20 or so percentile intelligence-wise, with a college degree, would have a decent shot to pass a bar exam with two months of intensive study.
Ranger School would likely be a much tougher go with that time to prepare.

So ignorant. Yet your side will never realize.
Are you calling someone a racist while SIMULTANEOUSLY using a derogatory racial slur?
Why yes, yes you are indeed.

We operated under the Constitution for 98 years before the first Bar Exam.

LA has a very hard bar exam but the material wasn't hard. it was more time management and stamina for the week
I thought the LA Bar was stupid easy. I found the MS Bar harder.

Frank Abignale failed it twice but passed it the third time after only eight weeks of study (while also pretended to be a PanAm pilot). He was a 19 year old high school dropout at the time.

Yet these same people oppose any sort of alternative programs to allow people to teach in schools.
When I retire (likely in 10 years when I turn 62) I would have 40 years of real-world accounting experience (OK, maybe not "real world" since I work for the Feds, but you get the point). However, because I don't have a teacher's degree, I couldn't teach business classes in a local school district.

Really? I figured you could so long as you took the Praxis or whatever it is.

How it's weigh though is more important. We've all seen the cases of people who are book smart but not intelligent. People that knew everything but couldn't apply it for shite.
And this is how the real world works. I've hired Java and J2EE developers for years. I have had people show up for interviews that were JAVA and J2EE Sun Certified engineers. I did not hire one. They had no actual practical experience, all they had were textbook examples and theories. Not what I needed to get the job done.

Einstein couldn't teach high school science in Louisiana.
