Since 80 the stock market has clearly preferred a Democrat in office.

I said similar not exactly. however, if Obama was blaming Bush for 7 years after Obama was in office, those results would look more like the market favored Republicans, would it not?

I kid, I kid.

But seriously...a LOT of those dips happened as a Republican was first coming into office, don't you think? The upticks began about halfway through their administrations.

Why are half-black people considered black?

Ask the people who came up with the "one drop rule".

quote:

The one-drop rule is a social and legal principle of racial classification that was historically prominent in the United States asserting that any person with even one ancestor of sub-Saharan-African ancestry ("one drop" of black blood) is considered black

he was pretty terrible if you just look at what he did and forget the 'he was the first black president'. His biggest accomplishment was inflicting a huge healthcare mess that's even worse than what we had before, which is collapsing under the weight of it's own stupidity in less than a decade. On the domestic front his tacit approval of the rise of things like BLM have degraded race relations to lows not seen since the 60s. Militarily he gutted our fighting ability while still managing to blow through unimaginable amounts of money, more concerned with making sure we have enough trannies than if we can actually fight a war. On the foreign policy front he displayed a weird combination of cowardice and belligerence (with no resolve to back anything up) and imcompetance. He presided over the rise of Isis, stole defeat out of the jaws of victory in Iraq and Afghanistan, bungled Syria, north Africa, Russia, North Korea, pretty much every international interaction for the last 8 years. Economically he managed to blow 10 trillion dollars for essentially no benefit to the country. He was a complete disaster, but at least he was black and could give a decent speech.

THIS x 10! Plus the hypocritical Media gave him a total pass on everything.

History will be very unkind to Obama. The more people study his policies and direction the more it will be routinely criticized.

I also think that Obama did a lot of this to himself. The first warning sign was the Harvard professor incident and it just went downhill from that. His non committal attitude on the Baton Rouge, Dallas, and other situations was damning.

While he was an icon in pop culture, history will not care about that, look at the 18th and 21st amendments for that.

Since a presidential library is to document a past President's accomplishments....wouldn't a small closet in some Mosque somewhere be sufficient?

His legacy becomes more irrelevant by the day.
From the sounds of the GOP's replacement healthcare bill, it would seem that folks with pre-existing conditions, and 25 year olds on their parents insurance might disagree. Osama Bin Laden also still dead. Great recession still over.
Southern Males' jimmies still rustled.

Still a lot to be thankful for.

ETA: I'm sure there will be a room dedicated to marriage equality like he had so much to do with the SCOTUS case.

He appointed two of the justices that ruled in favor of it, so he kinda did.

It would be kind of awesome if it came out that she was black - therefore making Ike half black thus ruining Obama's legacy as the first black president.

Hell I hope it happens...Ike is way overdue for a memorial in D.C. and needs to be back on currency.

Me too. Ike is highly underrated. And it lets progs admit O sucked.

Glad he put it in the hood

The University of Chicago and the Museum of Science & Industry are a few hundred yards north, a golf course and a yacht club a few hundred yards south, Mount Carmel (one of the big Catholic high schools) is across the street and Lake Michigan to the East. Not to mention Hyde Park is pretty yuppified now.

Yeah, real hood.

I like how y'all pretend that the "one drop" rule wasn't invented by racist white people. Race itself being a social construct, the majority insisted on a construct of purity. Now that someone with a whole lot more than "one drop" has reached a greater accomplishment than every white person in the country save for a handful of living people...you want to change the rules.

Sorry man. Nothing will ever erase the emasculation you felt watching Obama get sworn in. It was a watershed moment for you I am sure.

Seriously though....whether you liked him personally or not..or whether you liked his policies or not...he made history becoming the first black President. I hope everybody on both sides can judge him fairly....I'm sure it will take a long time, but eventually it will need to be done.

Looking at his accomplishments that will still be a thing on 1/1/2018:

1st african american elected POTUS

Being POTUS when the Navy SEALS gave UBL a double tap to the head

That is good enough for BHO to lock up the 3rd to worst POTUS in history.
