Well I'm on the side of teaching the kids more than less. An introduction to evolution isn't an overly complicated subject and certainly above a high-school level or even a middle school one. To say we don't need to teach it because of the "controversy" is simply giving in letting the lowest common denominator of people dictate what is included in the curriculum.

No.

As has been pointed out repeatedly, he is as wrong as the Creationist parent who said, "Evolution is not taught in the Bible so it shouldn't be taught in the class."

Both are nitwits.

Since evolution is false, telling children there is no proof of it and that it is only a theory is a good idea.

You might want to read Professor Thomas Nagle's ( NYU ) newest book ( he's an atheist ) Mind Cosmos : Why the Materialist Neo Darwinian Conception of Nature is Almost Certainly False.

Or you might want to hear 30 year old words of Richard Leaky, the worlds leading fossil-anthropologist has to say about the “supposed link ” Lucy.

He said in 1983 that Lucy's skull is so incomplete that most of it is imagination made offend plaster paris, and that no firm conclusion could be drawn about what species Lucy belonged to.

THERE GOES YOUR SUPPOSED LINK.

Making a broad and absurd comparison such as this doesn't help your argument. Its hard to discern what exactly you are arguing to begin with. You believe evolution should be taught in schools, but don't like the term "unifying" applied to it. Is that it?

SEC Crazy actually believes this stuff by the way. But he's such a nut its kind of endearing. We just let him say his crazy shite and kind of laugh.

NC_Tigah is a doctor (allegedly), and because he went to medical school, he knows that Evolution is not the unifying theory of biology. Seriously. You'll just have to take his word for it. He'll argue some obtuse point for 20 pages and you'll only have a vague idea of what you're even arguing about or what he's trying to argue, because its such a minor point.

Then darkhorse, beejon, mattloc and other mouthbreathing young earthers will enter and start quote mining and make all these points lifted straight from Answers in Genesis to try and make some "BOOM" argument that is laughable.

30 pages have passed, and its all very pointless.

There, I saved you 4 days.

PHD in Philosophy. His thoughts on evolution are irrelevant. You don't go to a Lawyer for brain surgery. Find a PHD in Biology and I'll listen.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't really intend for this to turn into evolution vs. creation, just to discuss how both sides felt about the bills approach to the issue. How naïve I was...

I've talked with Richard Leakey. His father happens to be a scientist I idolized as a kid. I would be stunned if your attribution remotely represents any statement Richard Leakey ever made, or intended to make.

One of the things that fascinated me when I got to see some of Louis Leakey's discoveries, is what an accurate picture he and his team developed from the fragments they found. Make no mistake, based on subsequent findings, his extrapolations were dead on, as were those pertaining to Lucy. Some iteration of that is likely what RL was acknowledging.

No doubt though, Richard Leakey is a man confident enough in his work, that he is willing to acknowledge what he doesn't know, e.g., exact path to sapiens. Itis the same approach to science I advocate here.

You consider the terms "theory" and "principle" interchangeable?

You and darkhorse take legitimate scientific criticism and somehow extrapolate that to a critique of evolutionary theory as a whole. It is an insult to the scientists you quote.

Both are idiots.
