Joshua Harris. I remember when his I Kissed Dating Goodbye book came out. Some of the girls were all about it.

Joel Osteen has a globe in his church instead of a cross. Rob Bell doesn’t believe in hell.

This is another interesting development.

In my world its really simple. Male or female which is easy enough to determine upon birth.

Belief in God or not which is also easy to determine.

Do or say as you will but the above determines your basic values.

ETA. Hit submit too soon.

I'm not hear to debate scripture per se. We could go all night.

If you find God in a church and organized religion where the preacher enriches himself off the flock, more power to you.

I was Christened Episcopalian, went to Catholic schools and Methodist Church and my
Father is an Ordained Minister for non-demolition church.

Sitting in a building being told what to think and believe is not for me. I've got no problem with those that do. But don't call us out as being non-Christian because I chose to be closest to God in Nature and in heart and not in a Mega-Church or most other "Organized" Religion.

Shaved head and a full beard...would anyone be surprised if a guy who looks like this came out of the closet?

We are supposed to serve one another as members of one body, the Church. It’s hard to do that when we are always on some mountain top worshipping God by ourselves.

We are supposed to participate in the sacraments, like the Lord’s Supper, which we can’t do by ourselves.

We are told to submit ourselves to the Church and the leaders of the Church for instruction and reproof. Can’t do that if you aren’t part of a local congregation.

We are supposed to follow the Biblical method of accountability and calling our brothers and sisters in Christ to repentance for their sins by bringing them before the church for discipline if they don't repent. Can’t do that if there is no local body to bring them to.

I could go on, but the “Church” is the people of God and we are intended to be with one another, serving and submitting to one another, and worshiping the one true God and His son Jesus together for the sanctification of each other. The apostles addressed their letters to churches or pastors of churches where they could be read aloud to entire congregations. With limited exceptions, If you are not part of a local body, you are not obeying the Lord.

Also, there are a lot of charlatans/wolves in the Church. Instead of using that to abandon the organized and commanded worship of God, we should be holding these people accountable and calling them out for who they are so that they don’t continue to lead others astray and cause others to blaspheme God.

True Christendom is a minority within Americans christianity. It’s all entertainment and self help centers. And Christians are quickly becoming a minority.

Correct. Churches have become a place of feelings and self help indeed. People go to put their hands up in the sky during the music and have the pastor tell them what they want to hear.

People are all about what feels good and what suits their emotions.

This is ironic because this is what drives the entirety of leftism. They are fueled by emotions in every stance they hold in a religious way.

Emotional imbalances are what drive 3rd world countries into chaos where they are killing off leaders on emotional outbursts from simple matters (see Puerto Rico). They never stabilize.

Even as women are given more authority in our society, decisions become more emotional.

Emotions are wildly unstable and a society built on emotion will easily crash.

Instead of throwing all of God’s law out because we, as Christians, are still sinners and don’t obey perfectly, why don’t we instead work on our own sanctification and conformity to the image of Christ in all things?

what you did is set up a false dilemma. there's something in between allowing yourself to be brainwashed and not going to church and the bible is clear as to what it is

god's word says go to church. i'm not calling you out.

That verse is about church discipline, not gathering for worship.
