it's tough. on paper, trent johnson looked like a good hire. he had done a good job at his 2 previous stops. just because someone wins, doesn't mean they're going to at lsu. but for sure, i would like to get someone who has already done something interesting. i guess i'm at blank slate mindset right...

re: at&t uverse internet friends - bfniii
UPDATE: i wrangled with uverse support mon and tues. to their credit they did call me back today. end result, i don't know what happened but, the quality today has been excellent. about what i would expect - no pauses and great resolution. that's what i'm paying for. i'll be checking it the rest...

re: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation... - bfniii
I suspect that this happened very early on
i agree.
There are predatory bacteria whose whole life cycle is dependent upon reproducing inside other bacterial cells.
that's the question i'm asking - how did they get that way. from everything we know, the first organisms...

re: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation... - bfniii
but just because theories can't answer every historical detail, it doesn't somehow make the broad theories invalid.
i never said they were invalid. the vast majority of evolutionary activity is observable and demonstrable.
that doesn't mean the unanswered negates the answers....

re: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation... - bfniii
Would it was "disadvantageous" be a more suitable answer?
it being advantageous or not is not the issue because that is downstream. the question posed is upstream of that. what caused the first case of predation? how did an organism have anatomical ability to do so? why did gend...

re: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation... - bfniii
You seem to think that bacteria had to actively decide whether it was going to consume another organism
i've told you multiple times that's not my position.
It was an impulse that it reacted to that could be caused by hundreds of different things.
i realize you don't ...

re: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation... - bfniii
How am I supposed to provide footage on the first time one organism consumed another
first, yes. you are highlighting one of the problems with large scale evolution up to ucd, i.e. no direct, repeatable evidence. second, you are basically conceding the point that you can't even think o...
All it has is a drive to survive
yet another non-answer answer. "it's just the way it is. stop thinking critically."
Their drive allowed them to do this
no matter how many times you repeat this, it doesn't become explanatory or scientifically rigorous. it's just an ad ...
And you keep sounding dumber and dumber
for someone who is uninitiated in critical thinking, i could see why they would say this
It just happens provided by chance and it turns out to be advantageous.
the fact that you think this is some sort of answer to the questions...
Every single one of his points didn't require a single second's thought for a refute on it
right. why did the marine iguana develop the ability to forage underwater? iguanas don't just jump into the ocean regularly. nor would they have thought "let me eat this underwater thing" afte...

re: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation... - bfniii
This is like asking why did humanity create fire. Or the spear.
no. it's not like asking that AT ALL. there is no known reason for one organism to have started consuming another. much less figuring out HOW an organism developed the MEANS to do so. predation allegedly predated humans so...
