Ummm... convict people based on evidence.
None was provided. That was a joke of a sentence.

No it wasn’t a joke it was a tragedy and it’s exactly why we should discontinue the death penalty.

But, we do. So again, what do we do about that in the context of the death penalty?

I agree that it shouldn't be, but it apparently is, as we keep doing it. So, how do you fix the problem?

You're looking for a blanket answer to encompass every legal situation and I don't have that for you. Every situation will be different but the death penalty should be an option on heinous crimes in which indisputable evidence is presented.
If the evidence is not 100% damning, then no death penalty should be sought, in my opinion.

I never have understood the "shortage" of death penalty drugs. Force feed the son of a bitch about 500 Tylenol and wait. Or just shoot them in the head.

once again you add nothing substantive in your opposition to the death penalty.
My basic opposition comes down to this. I dont trust my state govt to collect taxes, collect garbage, clean my drinking water, write accurate speeding tickets, or not do shady shite every day.
How then could a person employed by this shady organization convince me with 100% certainty they have caught and convicted a supposedly guilty person and me believe them every time?
I wonder what convicting and executing this person does for the DAs career, or help his re-election chances, or did he get paid by a powerful group to go after the convict, did he leave out exculpatory evidence, did he have a personal grudge against the convict...
Theres a million ways things have gone corrupt in the past and will continue to do so in the future. I have trouble trusting them to be 100% truthful in every death penalty case.
I am glad you have more faith than I do.

It's very hard because it's a human endeavor and humans make decisions based on a variety of factors
I don't know maybe one day there will be an artificial intelligence that will assess evidence exactly the same way for every case but I ain't holding my breath

Shouldn't have been on death row.
So it would seem someone (the DA) had something to gain by convicting someone, anyone, to close the case. Imagine that.

But innocent people are convicted of crimes every day. Some in spite of a lack of evidence, some because of falsified evidence, some because of withheld exculpatory evidence. As long as this is true, how can anyone advocate for a reduction of the appellate process before the State murders a human being? And if the appellate process can't be reduced, the expense can't be reduced. And if the expense can't be reduced, we need to examine whether the expense is worth it.
When you look at the reasons for incarceration: rehabilitation, incapacitation, deterrence, and retribution, I fail to see what benefits the death penalty has over life in prison that could possibly outweigh the costs.

The public sentiment against drug companies that manufacture legal injection drugs is massive, while the number of customers is few. It’s a business decision that leads very few drug manufacturers willing to be in the market of producing, marketing, and selling lethal injection drugs.
