With regards to this thread, it's a hypothetical. We're only 2 months into Trump's presidency. So the relevant question is (For anti-Trumpers), do you want Trump to fail no matter what, or do you hope against hope that he succeeds?

As an Anti-Trumper (full disclosure: I'd be an anti-Clinton too) I hope he succeeds. Just like I wanted Obama to succeed.

I'll be honest. I want Trump to fail. I want his administration to fail. I'm not worried about this country thriving under his leadership so the question is moot.

So when he brought this country back from a recession did you give him credit? When he oversaw tremendous job growth and a robust stock market did you give him credit??

Thread presumes a definition of "thrive" that is both value-neutral and wholly controlled by POTUS

Prosperous USA. However, if he's pushing policy I don't agree with then of course I want him to fail. At least in regards to that particular policy.

It was the same with Obama, Bush and so on.

I remember the idiots who screamed that Rush Limbaugh wanted the US to fail, when he said that he wanted Obamas agenda to fail

Now its OK to not only want Trump to fail, but have him removed from office. And supposedly the country will survive

It's fine to oppose someone because you think their policies will fail, but you should always choose a successful nation over a failing one, regardless of which policy is currently in place.

I think in the beginning most people were hopeful but as obama gradually showed his true and depraved colors I like most people that love this country opposed him due to his blatant anti-american agenda.

Exactly. That's why I said earlier that, imo, the measuring stick here is largely the economy & jobs. For example, it can't be the Supreme Court choices because some people would prefer a conservative SCOTUS, while others would prefer a more liberal SCOTUS.

We both know that isn't true. But then again most folks around here still believe he was born in Kenya.

Frankly, I'd like to see Trump serve out all four years. After the first 70 days or so...watching spicer try to explain the latest Trumpism has become must see tv.

The country has dealt with shitty presidents before and will again. The nation will be just fine.

I'm not a liberal, but Trump will not make the US more prosperous than we already are.

We're already one of the most wealthy nations, and the single most powerful and influential nation in the world. Trump has, thus far, sullied our image amongst our allies.

Better life for me and my kids. No president can do that.

Politics are spectator sports more than anything substantial.
